Hell Let Loose 2024 Roadmap: What Team17 Planned and Delivered

Team17’s February 2024 Hell Let Loose roadmap was a non-exhaustive, cross-platform plan. In December, the publisher said Update 16 delivered its stipulated content.

Team17 revealed its Hell Let Loose 2024 roadmap on February 20, 2024, describing it as a stable plan for all platforms. In a December 2024 recap, the publisher said Update 16 completed the content stipulated on that roadmap. The plan was not a full inventory of the year’s work, however, and Team17 did not publish a month-by-month schedule in the announcement text.

What Team17 said the 2024 roadmap meant

In its February 20 announcement, Team17 called the roadmap a “stable development plan” and said its approach reflected lessons from roadmaps that had been too ambitious. That characterization is not a guarantee that every item would arrive on a specific date: the announcement text gives no month-by-month delivery schedule.

Team17 also explicitly warned that the listed content was not the whole year’s work: “All content stipulated below is not an exhaustive representation of this year’s content – all updates will continue to comprise quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes.” — Hell Let Loose/Team17 official roadmap post, February 20, 2024.

The roadmap was presented as applying across all platforms. Its scope therefore included console as well as PC players, although the available announcement text does not provide a detailed platform-by-platform calendar.

#1 Best Overall
Hell Let Loose (Xbox Series X)
  • Fight in epic 50 vs 50 multiplayer battles.
  • 9 maps with more added frequently - land at Omaha Beach, fight through Carentan and into the frozen forests of Foy before climbing Hill 400.
  • Never fight the same battle twice - 99 capture point variations per map, means thousands of potential battles.
  • Play and master one or many of 14 unique roles, including: Officer, Medic, Machinegunner, Commander, Crewman, Sniper and more.
  • Constantly updated with new maps, weapons, features and fixes.

What appeared on the roadmap

The roadmap graphic itself is not available in the accessible announcement text, so a complete official transcription of its headings cannot be verified here. Chapter labels indexed for a creator’s February 20, 2024 walkthrough indicate that the graphic included these categories:

  • Skirmish mode and a Practice Range update
  • The Mortain map and an unannounced map
  • A console server browser
  • Changeable weather and a map refresh
  • New British tanks and British Forces Rework Part 2
  • A winter uniform refresh
  • Free and paid DLC

This list reflects secondary chapter metadata about visible roadmap headings, not an official transcription or a confirmed delivery calendar. It is best read as an indication of the roadmap’s range rather than a definitive list of every promised feature.

Winning Moves Hell No, Hell Yeah, Outrageous Adult Card Game
  • HOW TO PLAY: The Dealer draws a Scenario Card and reads it aloud. The other players choose two of their Action Cards and play them, facedown. The Dealer shuffles the Action Cards and picks the one they definitely would not do, saying "HELL NO!" Then, they pick the Action Card they definitely would do, saying "HELL YEAH!"
  • SITUATION: While scuba diving, your wound starts bleeding, and sharks begin to circle. What do you do?
  • ACTION: Ask for an autograph! Hell No
  • ACTION: Use your jetpack to escape! Hell Yeah
  • REPEAT PLAY: With 135 Situation Cards and 387 Action Cards you'll never run out of wild predicaments

How the December preview differs from the final roadmap

A December 21, 2023 developer briefing previewed early work expected to roll out across multiple updates. It named a US commander uniform inspired by George Patton and a US infantry winter uniform, while cautioning that these works in progress were not a full preview of the year:

“These are all works in progress and are expected to be released across multiple updates throughout next year. The following WIPs are not an exhaustive look into next year, just a few snippets of content to expect.” — Hell Let Loose/Team17, Developer Briefing #197, December 21, 2023.

  • Pair a photo with a caption: admit it: kids can drive you insane. Laughing makes it all better! So take a break and have fun creating these memes about ridiculous kids
  • Take turns being the judge: players take turns being the judge deciding who wins the round; the player with the most photo cards wins the raising Hell card game
  • Includes 372 cards: The raising Hell party game includes 300 caption cards and 72 photo cards; The player with the best caption for each photo round wins

That briefing was an early preview, not a substitute for the February roadmap. Its uniform examples should not be mistaken for a complete inventory, nor does the preview’s wording establish a specific release date for either item.

Did Hell Let Loose deliver the 2024 roadmap?

Team17 said yes. In its December 18, 2024 community update, the publisher stated that Update 16 had been released and that all content stipulated on the 2024 roadmap had been delivered. This is Team17’s year-end account, rather than an independent audit of the plan.

The update highlighted several examples of that work:

  • The British Forces rework
  • An El Alamein map refresh
  • A server browser for console players to choose maps and modes
  • Two maps built from the ground up: Mortain and Elsenborn Ridge
  • A dynamic weather system, first introduced in the Purple Heart Lane refresh and also featured in Elsenborn Ridge

These examples connect the broad roadmap categories to the publisher’s year-end recap. Team17’s recap also says the dynamic weather system appeared in two settings; it does not state that every secondary-indexed heading was delivered as originally worded.

How to read the roadmap now

The 2024 roadmap is a historical plan, not a current schedule. A later official developer brief dated September 1, 2026 discusses continued work on Hell Let Loose and a subsequent roadmap; those later plans are separate from the 2024 roadmap and its reported completion.

For the 2024 plan, the clearest distinction is between scope and timing: Team17 framed it as a stable, cross-platform plan, but called the listed content non-exhaustive and did not attach month-by-month dates in the announcement text. Its December recap then stated that Update 16 completed the stipulated roadmap content.
