It introduced three named Illuminate enemies and a progression-based system for customizing most primary weapons, alongside clarified Superstore rotations. This is a look back at that 2025 update, not a description of the game’s latest content.
What was in the Galactic Emergency update?
Arrowhead’s May 13, 2025 announcement focused on two changes: expanding the Illuminate threat and adding weapon customization for most primary weapons. It also explained how Superstore items would rotate and announced a date for a backlog of FRV patterns. The official announcement was published by Katherine Baskin, Arrowhead Game Studios’ Social Media and Community Manager.

Which new Illuminate enemies were announced?
The announcement named three new foes, each with a distinct role in a fight:
- Stingray: Jetfighters that provide aerial support, target Helldivers, and line up strafing runs.
- Crescent Overseer: An enemy able to lay barrages on Helldivers taking cover.
- Fleshmob: A brute described as a failed Illuminate experiment made from Voteless parts.
Arrowhead also mentioned sightings of larger ships, but said their abilities were unclear. The announcement did not establish what those ships could do, so their capabilities should not be inferred from that report.

How does primary weapon customization work?
Most primary weapons gain levels through mission completion. Those levels unlock attachments that players obtain through Requisition; weapon patterns are also available. The system covers the bulk of primary weapons, not every weapon in the game.
Examples of customization options in the announcement include sights, magazines, muzzles, under-barrel attachments, and color patterns. Depending on the option, customization can affect precision, ammunition capacity, weapon performance or handling, or appearance. Arrowhead described the progression in its May 13 announcement: “Most primary weapons now have levels that are achievable by completing missions, which then in turn unlock new attachments obtainable through Requisition.”

What did the Superstore clarification mean?
The announcement was later updated to clarify its initial wording that wanted items would “always” be available. The clarified system described one rotating Superstore page featuring six different content sets. The page changes every 48 hours, making for a 12-day rotation; earlier Superstore items from older Warbonds are available at any time.
That clarification does not mean every item has its own permanent storefront page. The announcement also does not establish current prices or today’s store inventory.

When did the update and related unlocks roll out?
The May 13 post announced that a backlog of FRV patterns themed around Viper Commandos, Freedom’s Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers would unlock on May 15, 2025, alongside the Masters of Ceremony Warbond. That was the announced historical rollout date.
On May 20, Arrowhead described the primary weapon customization system as having been released the prior week, then announced the Heart of Democracy update and the fight’s move to Super Earth’s streets. The May 20 follow-up makes clear that Galactic Emergency belongs to an earlier point in the game’s timeline. A later August 2026 announcement covered the Devoid of Liberty update and the game’s entry into the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog; catalog availability and subscription terms vary by region and tier.
