Helldivers 2: How to Emote and Unlock More Emotes

To emote in Helldivers 2, open the emote wheel with your current platform’s bound control, then choose an emote. The wheel now holds up to eight emotes, up from four, according to Arrowhead’s Devoid of Liberty 7.0.0 update notes. You can unlock more from Warbonds: spend War Medals on catalogue items, and use Super Credits to obtain optional Warbonds.

How to open the emote wheel

Controls can vary by platform and may change with updates. A Dot Esports guide published February 24, 2024 lists holding left on the D-pad on PS5 and pressing B on PC as the default inputs. Those are dated third-party control references, not a current official platform-wide binding list. If either input does not work, open the game’s Options and check Controls for the emote-wheel binding; the guide also notes that controls can be rebound. The current Xbox default was not established in the available sources.

Once the wheel is open, select an available emote using the controls shown in your current binding settings. Arrowhead’s 7.0.0 notes confirm that the wheel capacity increased from four to eight emotes, but do not specify current navigation inputs for each platform. How to unlock more emotes

Look through the Warbond catalogues for emotes, then unlock the items you want with War Medals. Arrowhead explains that War Medals can be earned through gameplay or awarded for completing objectives in its Warbond help article. Not every Warbond is guaranteed to include an emote, so check the catalogue before spending currency.

These are two different currencies with different jobs: Super Credits obtain optional Warbonds; War Medals unlock items within a Warbond. Arrowhead’s explanation of Warbonds and their currencies is at What is a Warbond?. PlayStation describes Warbonds as containing emotes and remaining available after purchase on its UK Helldivers 2 page.

How to choose or change your available emotes

Go to the Super Destroyer’s Armory and inspect Character customization and the emote options. A February 2024 guide described selecting an emote there, but its claim that only one emote could be equipped at a time predates Arrowhead’s later eight-slot wheel update. The current patch confirms the wheel’s capacity, not the exact current menu labels or the process for assigning each slot, so follow the options displayed in your game and consult the Controls menu for wheel navigation.

What changed about the emote wheel

Arrowhead’s Devoid of Liberty 7.0.0 notes state: “The emote wheel capacity has been raised from 4 to 8 emotes.” That is the current official capacity cited here; it does not mean every player automatically owns eight emotes. The emotes available to you depend on the items you have unlocked, and controls or menus may change in later updates.
