What happened after Helldivers 2 patch 1.000.300?
The original patch 1.000.300 release is dated April 29, 2024, in a third-party patch archive. Three days later, Arrowhead’s 1.000.301 announcement said it included “performance improvements following the decline from the last patch.” That is the clearest official confirmation of a performance decline associated with the preceding patch; it is not a quantified benchmark or a diagnosis of what caused an individual player’s low FPS. There is a version-history wrinkle: the official page currently retrieved under the 1.000.300 label displays an August 2026 date and content that appears to relate to a later release using that label. It should not be read as a clean record of the original April 2024 update. Official 1.000.300 page currently displayed by Arrowhead
How can I fix low FPS in Helldivers 2 on PC?
Arrowhead’s technical-support guidance gives general PC troubleshooting steps. They may help with performance problems, but are not guaranteed fixes for the specific 2024 patch decline. Try the lower-effort checks first, then move to changes that affect local data or require reinstalling. Arrowhead technical-support guidance

- Ready for Upgrades – Designed with tool-less access, easily swap out components, ensuring future-proof performance for years to come.
- Check the minimum requirements. Compare your PC’s hardware with the game’s listed minimum specifications before changing settings or reinstalling.
- Update drivers. Install current graphics-card drivers, and check other PC drivers too, including motherboard and network drivers.
- Verify the game files in Steam. Open your Steam Library, right-click Helldivers 2, choose Properties, open Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files. Let Steam finish and test the game again.
- Clear the Arrowhead AppData contents. On Windows, open
%appdata%to locate the Arrowhead AppData folder, then delete its contents as Arrowhead’s instructions describe. Back up anything important in that folder first; clearing local data can remove saved settings or other locally stored information. - Reinstall if the issue persists. If your specifications and drivers are suitable and the earlier steps did not help, Arrowhead recommends fully uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
- Test Async Compute. Try enabling it if it is off, or disabling it if it is on. Arrowhead says the result can depend on the hardware. Change only this setting, then compare FPS in the same scene and under similar conditions so you can tell whether it made a difference.
Does the 2024 FPS issue still affect the current game?
Arrowhead’s known-issues page dated October 7, 2026 says performance problems are among ongoing issues the team is working on, but most are not listed individually. It does not identify the specific post-1.000.300 decline as an unresolved issue. Arrowhead’s known-issues page
The game has also received later graphics changes. For example, Arrowhead’s September 2026 version 7.0.0 notes mention further upscaling image-quality improvements and reduced edge ghosting around the screen when using NVIDIA DLSS on PC. For a current installation, check the latest patch notes and settings rather than assuming that guidance from the 2024 update applies unchanged. Arrowhead version 7.0.0 notes

What details help diagnose a persistent FPS drop?
Low FPS after an update does not by itself prove that the update caused the problem. If the general steps do not help, record the details needed to distinguish a game-wide issue from a system-specific one:
- CPU, GPU, and memory
- Graphics driver version
- Resolution and graphics settings
- Helldivers 2 version
- Repeatable FPS observations from the same scene and comparable conditions
The 1.000.301 announcement gives no before-and-after FPS figures, so there is no substantiated number for how large the decline was or how much the follow-up restored.
