Helldivers 2’s May 13, 2025 update announcement brought three new Illuminate enemies, customizable primary weapons with mission-based progression, and a revised Superstore rotation. Those are the features covered here—not the later content added in 2026.
When was this Helldivers 2 update announced?
PlayStation Blog announced the feature set on May 13, 2025. Arrowhead’s PATCH 01.003.000 page currently displays June 4, 2026, but the available official sources do not explain the date discrepancy. The contemporary announcement is the clearest reference for when these features were presented.

Which Illuminate enemies were added?
The announcement introduced three enemies, each described as posing a different battlefield threat:
- Stingray: an Illuminate jetfighter that targets Helldivers with strafing runs.
- Crescent Overseer: launches barrages at Helldivers who are in cover.
- Fleshmob: an Illuminate experiment made from Voteless parts, described as a brute battlefield force.
The descriptions establish an aerial threat, attacks that can reach players in cover, and a brute ground force; they do not specify enemy health or other combat statistics.

How does primary-weapon customization work?
The update added customization for most primary weapons. As Arrowhead community manager Katherine Baskin put it, Helldivers were getting “a robust new weapon customization feature for the bulk of our primary weapon offerings.” The options described included sights, patterns, magazines, muzzles, and under-barrel attachments.
Progression and attachments
Complete missions to progress weapon levels, then spend Requisition to unlock attachments. The announcement describes weapon levels as the progression path and Requisition as the currency for unlocking customization options.

Saving and switching configurations
Players can save weapon configurations and switch between them during the mission loadout sequence. This lets a player choose a saved setup at loadout rather than rebuild it there.

PlayStation Blog’s May 2025 announcement described a revised store rotation. It said the rotating page would contain six content sets, change every 48 hours, and complete a rotation in 12 days. These figures describe the announced rotation mechanics, not a guarantee of what is in the store today.

- When a new Warbond released, one set from the current rotation moved to a permanent page.
- Purchases required the base game, paid Super Credits, and game progression.

What has changed since the 2025 announcement?
The features above are not the latest Helldivers 2 content. In September 2026, Arrowhead’s Devoid of Liberty 7.0.0 notes described the Wretch and Crusher, SEAF platoons as mission support, and rank progression up to Level 300. The notes characterize the Wretch as nimble and dodging while advancing, and the Crusher as able to regenerate while taking heavy damage.
Official Steam announcements also describe Void missions, Illuminate structures and objectives, secondary extraction zones, and SEAF support. Xbox Wire details squad roles including squad leader, medic, rifleman, and specialist. These later additions should be distinguished from the three enemies, weapon customization, and store changes announced in May 2025.
