The footage highlights scavenging in the shadow of a giant war machine and a growing connection between the player and the robot. Red Thread Games describes the game as a one- or two-player survival mystery for PC; the developer currently lists it as coming soon, while PC Gamer reported a 2027 release year.
What the new Hello Sunshine trailer shows
The trailer was unveiled during the PC Gaming Show: Tokyo Direct. PC Gamer says the footage expands on the relationship between the Nomad and the giant robot that shelters them. Megabit Publishing’s announcement describes scenes of scavenging, salvaging materials from war machines and seeking protection from the heat. One new moment shows the robot lifting the player into its palm.
That gesture fits the game’s central premise: the robot is more than a machine to follow. Red Thread says it becomes more helpful as the player assists it, making their changing relationship part of the survival story.
How survival works
Day: scavenge while staying in the robot’s shadow
You play as the final employee of a corporate conglomerate in a sun-scorched world. During the day, you follow a towering war machine and search settlements and wreckage for supplies. Heat and radiation make exposure dangerous, so the robot’s shadow serves as moving shelter while you venture out to gather what you need.

Night: camp, craft and maintain the machine
At night, the robot stops to recharge and the wasteland turns cold. You camp nearby for warmth, craft equipment, and repair or upgrade the machine. The developer describes it as a mobile base with repairable parts, sensors and defensive upgrades. You can also assemble helper bots for tasks including gathering, mapping, hunting and defense.
Scavenging, crafting and upgrades sit alongside story mysteries and the evolving bond with the robot. These are features described by Red Thread Games, not independently tested gameplay findings.
Can you play Hello Sunshine in co-op?
Yes. Red Thread Games describes Hello Sunshine as a game for one or two players. In co-op, players can coordinate scavenging and trade resources, while experiencing the journey from different perspectives. The official materials also describe a solo option; they do not establish additional player counts or modes.
When does Hello Sunshine come out?
The current official developer page and press kit say “coming soon” without a dated launch window. PC Gamer reported a 2027 release year on September 20, 2026, so that is the latest reported estimate—not a launch date confirmed on Red Thread’s public pages.

An earlier Megabit announcement, dated April 12, 2025, said the game would launch in 2026. That was a past estimate and should not be treated as the current window.
Platform, price and current PC requirements
Red Thread’s press kit lists Steam (PC) as the platform and price as TBA. Steam currently publishes these Windows specifications and notes that requirements are subject to change:
