You can start a game of classic Solitaire directly from Google Search—usually without downloading an app or creating an account. Search for Solitaire, open the interactive game, choose Easy or Hard, and begin playing.
How to open Solitaire through Google Search
- Open Google Search in a web browser.
- Search for Solitaire.
- Look for the interactive Solitaire game near the top of the results.
- Select Play, if that button appears.
- Choose Easy or Hard.
- Move cards by dragging them, or tap a card and then tap a legal destination. The available interaction can vary by device and browser.
If the game does not appear in Search, try Google’s standalone game page: Google Solitaire.

What the Google Solitaire board means
Google’s game is a version of Klondike Solitaire, the classic form most people mean when they search for Solitaire.
- Tableau: The seven columns of cards in the main playing area. Most cards begin face down, with only the top card in each column face up.
- Foundations: The four empty spaces where you build each suit from Ace through King.
- Stock: The face-down pile used to reveal cards that are not currently available.
- Waste: The face-up pile created when you draw from the stock. Normally, only its exposed card can be played.
- Score and moves: Counters showing your current score and how many moves you have made.
How to make legal moves
Build down in alternating colors
In the tableau, cards are arranged in descending rank while alternating red and black suits. For example, you can place a black 9 on a red 10, or a red Queen on a black King. A properly arranged face-up sequence can generally be moved as a group.

Expose face-down cards
When you move the face-up card away from a tableau column, turn over the face-down card beneath it. Revealing hidden cards is usually more valuable than making a move that merely looks convenient.
Build the foundations upward
Start a foundation with an Ace, then add cards of the same suit in order: Ace, 2, 3, and so on through King. A card can move to a foundation only when it is the next card required for that suit.

Use empty columns for Kings
An empty tableau column can generally be filled only with a King, either by itself or with a valid sequence headed by a King.
Draw from the stock
When no useful tableau move is available, select the stock to reveal more cards. The newly exposed card moves to the waste pile, where it may become playable.

What Easy and Hard mean
The current Google game visibly offers Easy and Hard modes. In many Klondike implementations, Easy corresponds to drawing one card at a time, while Hard corresponds to drawing three cards at a time. That is a common convention, but Google does not publish a detailed rules specification for these labels, so treat the draw behavior and any redeal rules as specific to the live version.
Choose Easy if you are returning to Solitaire or learning the rules. Hard provides fewer immediately usable choices and is better suited to players who want a more restrictive challenge.

What the controls do
- Undo: Reverses your most recent move.
- New: Starts another game.
- Easy / Hard: Selects the available difficulty.
- Share: Opens the game’s sharing option.
- Score: Displays the current score. Google’s exact scoring formula is not established here.
- Moves: Displays the number of moves made.
When all 52 cards reach the four foundations, the game displays a completion or victory state. Some Solitaire interfaces also let you double-click or double-tap a card to send it to a foundation, but that shortcut is interface-dependent.

- Prioritize hidden cards. Exposing a face-down card usually creates more future options.
- Check the tableau before drawing. A legal tableau move may reveal a card that changes the best decision from the stock.
- Preserve flexibility. Do not build a long sequence if doing so blocks access to another column or useful card.
- Create empty columns deliberately. An empty space gives you somewhere to move a King-led sequence.
- Do not rush every card to a foundation. A low card may still be useful in the tableau, depending on the position.
- Use Undo to learn. Try one move, undo it, and compare whether another move exposes more cards.
- Restart blocked deals. Use New when the position is clearly stalled. Not every deal is necessarily winnable, and even a solvable deal can be lost through an earlier move.
If Google Solitaire does not appear
Google’s result layout and interactive features can vary by browser, device, region, and time. Try these steps:

- Search for the shorter query solitaire.
- Use Google Search in a current browser.
- Refresh the results or game page.
- Temporarily disable a content blocker or script-blocking extension if the game is blank.
- Try a private browsing window or another browser.
- Open the standalone Google Solitaire page.
If the game opens but does not respond, try tapping or clicking instead of dragging, then refresh the page or select New.
Google Search Solitaire versus other options
The browser game is the quickest route for a short, no-install game. It is different from Solitaire apps listed on Google Play and from Google Play Games’ built-in games.
On Android, Google says you can open Play Games and look under Google Built-In Games, where Solitaire is available among the listed games. See Google Play Help for that route. It may be useful when you want an Android-native option, but it is not the same as launching Solitaire through Google Search.
