Java- en Bedrock-spelers gebruiken verschillende multiplayernetwerken. Speel je met vrienden op Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Android of iPhone/iPad, dan heb je op Windows meestal Bedrock/Minecraft for Windows nodig. Java is de logische keuze voor Java-servers, veel pc-mods en oudere releaseversies. Wat heb je nodig?
- Een Microsoft-account. De aankoop, code en pc-toegang zijn aan dit account gekoppeld.
- De Minecraft Launcher, gedownload via Minecraft.net of de Microsoft Store.
- Een Minecraft-licentie, tenzij je die al bezit of via een geldige code hebt ingewisseld.
- Een ondersteund besturingssysteem en voldoende vrije opslagruimte voor de Launcher en gamebestanden.
Gebruik bij het kopen, inwisselen van een code en installeren steeds hetzelfde Microsoft-account. Dat voorkomt de meest voorkomende melding dat Minecraft niet wordt gevonden of niet in je bezit is.
Minecraft kopen en downloaden op Windows
1. Koop de juiste pc-bundel als je nog geen licentie hebt
Ga naar Minecraft.net of de officiële Microsoft/Xbox Store en zoek naar Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC. Controleer vóór het afrekenen dat het product voor pc is en niet voor een console. Meld je aan met het Microsoft-account dat je ook later in de Launcher wilt gebruiken.
Een externe aankoop kan ook een digitale code zijn. Als je bijvoorbeeld zoekt naar Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition voor pc op Amazon, controleer dan extra zorgvuldig of het om een officiële pc-licentie of digitale code voor jouw regio gaat, wie de verkoper is en of je geen account koopt. Beschikbaarheid, prijs, levering en verkoper op Amazon kunnen veranderen; de officiële Minecraft.net- en Microsoft/Xbox Store-route blijft de veiligste referentie.
2. Download de officiële Launcher
- Open de officiële Minecraft-downloadpagina of zoek in de Microsoft Store naar Minecraft Launcher.
- Download de versie voor je besturingssysteem.
- Open het installatiebestand en volg de stappen op het scherm.
Download geen zogenaamde gratis volledige versie, gekraakte Launcher of willekeurige launcher van een onbekende website. Zulke bestanden kunnen malware bevatten en geven je bovendien geen betrouwbare toegang tot de officiële licentie of multiplayerdiensten.
3. Meld je aan met het juiste Microsoft-account
Start de Minecraft Launcher en kies de optie om met een Microsoft-account aan te melden. Gebruik het account waarmee je Minecraft hebt gekocht of waarop je de code hebt ingewisseld. De Launcher controleert daarna welke games aan dat account zijn gekoppeld.

4. Kies een editie
In de Launcher verschijnt op Windows doorgaans een keuze tussen:

- Minecraft for Windows — de naam in de Launcher voor Bedrock Edition op Windows, bedoeld voor cross-play met andere Bedrock-platforms.
De keuze bepaalt ook met welke vrienden en servers je kunt spelen. Java en Bedrock zijn niet twee verschillende profielen binnen één gedeelde multiplayeromgeving; een Java-server vereist Java en een Bedrock-server of Bedrock-vriendenkring vereist Bedrock.
5. Klik op Play
Klik bij de gekozen editie op Play. De Launcher downloadt de benodigde bestanden en installeert de game. De eerste start kan langer duren dan volgende starts, omdat bestanden nog worden binnengehaald en ingesteld. Laat de Launcher tijdens dit proces geopend en zorg voor een stabiele internetverbinding.
Minecraft opnieuw downloaden op een nieuwe pc
Je hoeft dezelfde pc-licentie niet opnieuw te kopen wanneer je Minecraft al bezit. Installeer de Launcher op de nieuwe computer, meld je aan met het Microsoft-account waarop de aankoop staat en controleer je spellenlijst. Kies daarna de editie en klik op Play.
Zie je alleen een koopknop of staat Minecraft als niet-bezit weergegeven, koop dan niet meteen opnieuw. Controleer eerst:

Op een gedeelde pc kun je in de Launcher van account wisselen. Controleer daarbij ook het account in de Microsoft Store en de Xbox-app. Een verschil tussen die accounts kan ervoor zorgen dat de Launcher je licentie niet goed herkent.
Java of Bedrock: welke moet je installeren?

Op een Windows-pc kun je beide edities installeren als je de pc-bundel bezit. Je start er echter steeds één tegelijk. Vraag daarom vóór je een server binnengaat of je met Java of Bedrock moet verbinden.
Systeemvereisten en ondersteunde systemen
Voor de Minecraft Launcher zijn volgens de huidige richtlijnen minimaal Windows 10 of hoger, macOS 10.15 of hoger of Ubuntu 19.10 of hoger nodig om updates te ontvangen. Oudere besturingssystemen kunnen installatie-, update- of multiplayerproblemen veroorzaken, ook als een oudere Minecraft-versie eerder wel werkte.
Let op: de titel van deze gids verwijst naar 2025, maar de Java-richtlijnen zijn inmiddels bijgewerkt. Vanaf 21 juli 2026 is het nieuwe minimale doel voor Java Edition een 64-bits systeem met:
- 1080p met 30 fps op de Fast-preset;
- 8 GB RAM;
- een vierkernprocessor;
- een Vulkan 1.3-compatibele grafische kaart met minimaal 2 GB VRAM.
De aanbevolen doelstelling is 1080p met 60 fps op Fancy, met 16 GB RAM en krachtigere grafische hardware. Dit zijn richtlijnen voor een stabiele spelervaring, geen garantie dat ieder ouder systeem onmiddellijk wordt geblokkeerd. Vooral renderafstand, shaders, mods en grote werelden kunnen meer hardware vereisen dan de basisgame.

Veelvoorkomende problemen oplossen
“Je bezit Minecraft niet”
Dit betekent meestal niet dat de aankoop verdwenen is, maar dat de Launcher het verkeerde account gebruikt. Meld je af en opnieuw aan met het Microsoft-account uit de aankoopbevestiging. Controleer vervolgens de Microsoft-bestelgeschiedenis.
De Launcher ziet een aankoop niet
Controleer of de Microsoft Store, Xbox-app en Minecraft Launcher hetzelfde account gebruiken. Sluit de apps volledig af, meld je met het juiste account aan en start de Launcher opnieuw. Controleer bij een code ook of die daadwerkelijk op dit Microsoft-account is ingewisseld.
Je weet niet welke editie je moet starten
Vraag na op welk netwerk je vrienden of server spelen. Console- en mobiele cross-play betekent meestal Bedrock; Java-servers en Java-mods betekenen Java Edition. Het bezit van beide edities op Windows betekent niet dat Java automatisch met Bedrock-spelers kan verbinden.
De Launcher installeert of update niet
Controleer eerst je besturingssysteem tegen de minimale Launcher-versies, je internetverbinding en vrije schijfruimte. Probeer daarna de Launcher opnieuw via Minecraft.net of de Microsoft Store te installeren. Gebruik geen onofficiële download als omweg: dat lost licentie- en accountproblemen niet betrouwbaar op.
Je hebt een gedeelde of tweedehands account gekocht
Dat is geen veilige vervanging voor een eigen licentie. Minecraft-toegang is aan het Microsoft-account gekoppeld. Als de oorspronkelijke eigenaar het wachtwoord wijzigt, herstelopties gebruikt of de toegang terugneemt, kun je ook je toegang tot Minecraft verliezen. Koop daarom een eigen licentie of wissel een geldige code in op je eigen Microsoft-account.
