After character creation, the confirmed appearance changes in Hogwarts Legacy are for equipped gear and, later, wand handles. Official guidance explains how to change gear cosmetics, but it does not specify whether or how you can edit hair, eye color, or facial features after starting the game. Those options should not be treated as confirmed by the available official instructions.
What can you change after creating your character?
The official FAQ confirms that character customization is available at the beginning of the adventure, but it does not list the available settings or explain which ones can be changed later. The official support instructions cover cosmetic appearances for gear and wand handles—not edits to your character’s face or hair.
That means the official sources cited here do not establish a definitive post-creation list for hair, eye color, or facial features, or whether any of those options are locked after the opening creator. Check the options presented in your own game before relying on a specific list.
How to change equipped gear appearance
Once you have completed the introductory “Welcome to Hogwarts” sequence and can access the Gear screen, you can change the appearance of equipped gear without replacing its underlying item. The official support instructions give this path:

- Open the Pause Menu and select Gear.
- Hover over the gear slot whose appearance you want to change.
- Choose Change Appearance.
- Select an unlocked appearance.
The button prompt for this documented gear action is Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, Y on Nintendo Switch, and F on PC. These controls refer to changing gear appearance, not editing hair or facial features. See Portkey Games Support’s cosmetic-item instructions.
When can you change a wand-handle appearance?
Wand-handle cosmetics have a separate unlock point: the support article says they become available after you gather supplies on your first trip to Hogsmeade and complete “Welcome to Hogsmeade.” This is distinct from changing equipped gear and does not establish anything about changing hair, eye color, or facial details.

Does appearance editing cost money?
The official FAQ says Hogwarts Legacy has no microtransactions. It also notes that Standard Edition players can separately purchase the Dark Arts Pack, which is included in the Deluxe Edition. That FAQ does not state whether any in-game appearance service has a fee or what currency it might use. See the official FAQ.

The official FAQ confirms initial character customization at the onset of the adventure; the support article documents later gear and wand-handle cosmetic changes. Neither source describes a post-creation hair or eye-color editor.
