Was the release date announced at Summer Game Fest?
The available official event source does not support that attribution. Xbox Wire’s June 8, 2025 Xbox Games Showcase recap says Silksong would be available on Xbox Ally and Game Pass at launch, but it does not announce a release date. Team Cherry’s launch post and Steam establish the eventual date; the sources cited here do not establish the full venue or broadcast where the date was first announced.
What kind of game is Silksong?
Team Cherry describes Silksong as a full-scale sequel to Hollow Knight, starring Hornet as she journeys through a new kingdom. The game takes place in Pharloom and features exploration, acrobatic combat, crafting, quests, and boss encounters. The Steam listing describes more than 200 foes and more than 40 bosses; those are developer-published feature claims, not independently counted figures.

The project was first revealed in 2019. Team Cherry’s reveal post described it as a full-scale sequel after the project expanded beyond its original DLC conception.
Which platforms can you play it on?
Team Cherry’s games page lists PC, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. At launch, Team Cherry also confirmed availability on all platforms and day-one Xbox Game Pass in its launch announcement. Game Pass catalogs can change, so check the current catalog for subscription availability in your region.
