“Coming this year” referred to 2024, not a new promise for 2026. WB Games released the update on June 5, 2024, bringing the Haunted Shop mission and previously PlayStation-exclusive content to supported platforms, alongside Photo Mode, a talent-point reset and other additions. Separate PC updates followed in 2025.
When was the Hogwarts Legacy update announced?
On January 26, 2024, the official Hogwarts Legacy account said PlayStation-exclusive content would arrive on other platforms “later this summer,” along with additional updates and features. The wording was about the game’s first-anniversary period in 2024, not an update still due in 2026. Contemporaneous coverage reproduced the account’s announcement; it did not identify a named individual speaker.
What did the June 2024 update add?
WB Games’ June 5, 2024 patch notes document the release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The update brought the following content and features to supported platforms:
- Haunted Shop mission: The previously PlayStation-exclusive quest became available on supported platforms.
- Previously exclusive items: The Onyx Hippogriff mount, Felix Felicis Potion and Shopkeeper Cosmetic set were among the items unlocked.
- Photo Mode: Players can stage and capture in-game images. It becomes available after completing the mission that grants access to the Field Guide.
- Talent-point reset: Players gained a way to reset talent points.
- New cosmetics and broom: The update added cosmetics and the Lavender Borealis broom.
- Fixes: The patch also included bug fixes.
The notes describe supported platforms and feature availability; they should not be read as a guarantee that every feature works identically on every platform.

What came in later Hogwarts Legacy updates?
The June 2024 release is distinct from the later PC patch. WB Games’ January 30, 2025 PC patch notes document official mod browsing and installation, a Mod Creator Kit, expanded ray-tracing controls, DLSS 4 support and fixes. These are PC-specific additions, not features of the June 2024 update.
WB Games’ official support archive lists further platform updates, including a December 3, 2025 PC hotfix addressing a mod display issue.

Is a new Hogwarts Legacy update still coming in 2026?
The official Steam announcements page reviewed for this article displays 2026 sale and promotional posts, not a new gameplay-update announcement. That page alone does not establish whether an announcement appeared elsewhere, so it is not evidence that no 2026 update exists. WB Games’ official notes document later PC changes through 2025, while the widely reported “coming this year” announcement and its June 2024 release are historical. Check the official Steam announcements for posts published there.
You do not need to buy a new edition to receive an update if you already own a supported copy of the game. Physical-edition announcements can be region-specific: for example, SEGA’s notice concerns Japan-market editions and pricing, not worldwide availability. See SEGA’s Japan release notice for those local details.
