Is the Haunted Hogsmeade quest free?
The Summer 2024 update was free for owners of Hogwarts Legacy. You do not buy the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest as an independent downloadable expansion. You need to own the base game, then install the applicable game update on your platform.
This distinction matters when you see a store page or a sale. The game itself can still have a purchase price, and that price can change by platform, region, format and promotion. The quest is included update content for owners rather than a separately priced Halloween add-on.

Which platforms have the quest?
The quest originally launched as PlayStation-exclusive content. The Summer 2024 update later made it available to all players on all platforms.

The important change for returning players is that the old PlayStation-only restriction no longer applies. A player on Xbox, PC or Switch should not look for a separately sold quest listing; availability comes with the updated game.

How to get the haunted shop in Hogsmeade
- Own the base game. The quest is update content, so a game license is required.
- Install the Summer 2024 update. On console, allow the system to download the latest update; on PC, let the game client finish updating before launching.
- Load your save and check the Hogsmeade-related quest content. The shop quest is part of the updated game rather than a code that must be redeemed separately.
- Complete the investigation and its dungeon. Finishing the quest unlocks the shopkeeper-themed rewards and ownership of the Hogsmeade storefront.
If the quest does not appear, first confirm that the update finished downloading and that you are playing the intended edition on the account that owns the game. Storefront metadata and update behavior can differ by platform, so checking the current support or purchase listing for your system is the safest next step. The available material does not establish a single universal story-progress requirement, so do not assume that every new save will expose the quest at the same point.

Rather than adding a temporary menu theme or a few seasonal decorations, the quest builds its premise around a haunted shop in Hogsmeade. The focused location creates the kind of uneasy, enclosed atmosphere associated with Halloween.
