Team Cherry’s latest listed Hollow Knight: Silksong update is Patch 1.0.30000, dated March 15 on the studio’s official Steam announcements page. It adds Traditional Chinese localization, refines German text, and makes several movement, balance, and bug-fix changes. It is separate from Sea of Sorrow, a free expansion Team Cherry announced for 2026; the studio has not given that expansion a specific release date.
What changes in Patch 1.0.30000?
The newest patch listed on Team Cherry’s Steam announcements page is Version 1.0.30000, dated March 15. Its notes cover localization, movement, enemy and environmental fixes, and a new bench location.
- Localization: Traditional Chinese is added, and the German translation is refined for clarity and consistency with English.
- Movement: Hornet can use Silk Soar through top scene exits.
- Bug fixes and balance: The patch addresses cases where enemies or Hornet could be pulled out of bounds, corrects Last Judge damage, and makes Magma Bell protect against all fire-type explosions.
- World change: A bench is added beside Pale Lake before the Flea Caravan arrives.
- Other changes: The notes also list various minor fixes and tweaks.
This is a gameplay and polish update, not the release of a new story expansion.
Is Sea of Sorrow part of this update?
No. Sea of Sorrow is a separate expansion announcement, not content included in Patch 1.0.30000. In a December 15, 2025 blog post, Ari Gibson of Team Cherry described it as a nautical expansion with new areas, bosses, tools, and more, planned for 2026 and free for all players.

The announcement does not specify a day or month for release. Team Cherry said it expected to share additional information shortly before launch, which is a stated communication plan rather than a release date.
How does this compare with the earlier Patch 4?
Patch 4 addressed different needs. In its Patch 4 announcement, Team Cherry said it incorporated a Simplified Chinese translation provided by Team Cart Fix and upgraded to Unity’s Input System. The changes added controller support, including rumble on various controllers and recognition of additional controllers.

The studio cautioned that some controller issues could remain and noted quirks with certain wired and Bluetooth combinations. Patch 1.0.30000’s Traditional Chinese localization is a distinct addition; it should not be confused with Patch 4’s Simplified Chinese translation.

The confirmed news is a live patch focused on language support, movement behavior, combat or environmental corrections, and a convenient bench. The larger content news is still ahead: Sea of Sorrow has been announced as free and planned for 2026, but its release timing and fuller details have not been specified in the cited announcement.

For context, Team Cherry’s December 2025 year-end post said that “over seven million” people had purchased the game, with “millions more” playing through Xbox Game Pass. Those are figures reported by the developer, not independently audited totals.
The studio’s official game site presents Hornet as the protagonist and describes acrobatic combat, crafted tools, a hand-crafted 2D world, and “over 200 ferocious foes.” The foe count is Team Cherry’s own description.
