In Hollow Knight: Silksong, Nuu gives Hornet the Hunter’s Journal at the Halfway Home in Greymoor. To earn its reward, the Hunter’s Memento, complete 230 required entries in Classic Mode or 231 in Steel Soul Mode, then speak to Nuu again. You do not need every obtainable entry for the Memento.
Where to find the Hunter’s Journal
Go to Greymoor and enter the Halfway Home. Nuu is on the upper floor; speak to her to receive the Journal and the associated Bugs of Pharloom wish. Inspect the Journal, then open it from a pane in the menu.
Gamer Guides marks the location at X: 12381, Y: 12584 on its interactive map. Those coordinates belong to that map and are not universal in-game coordinates. For the location itself, look for the Halfway Home in Greymoor. Gamer Guides’ Hunter’s Journal location and the Hollow Knight Wiki Journal page both identify Nuu and the Halfway Home.
How Journal entries are completed
Defeat a new enemy type to begin its entry. Defeating more specimens reveals the full entry and additional notes; the required number of kills varies by creature. For example, the community-maintained Hollow Knight Wiki lists thresholds of 25 Mossgrubs, three Massive Mossgrubs, and one Bell Beast.

Not every entry comes from ordinary combat. Some require inspecting an object or completing a challenge, so if a creature’s entry does not appear after a kill, check whether it has a special condition.
How many entries are needed for the Hunter’s Memento?
The number of entries available in a mode is not the same as the number required for the reward. The Hollow Knight Wiki reports these totals:

The one-entry difference in Steel Soul comes from Summoned Saviour, an entry exclusive to that mode. In Classic, six obtainable entries do not count toward the Memento requirement: Flintbeetle, Palestag, Shakra, Garmond and Zaza, Lost Garmond, and Lost Lace. The totals and exclusions are reported by the Journal entry list and Hunter’s Memento page.
How to check which entries are missing
Construct Farsight and use it to track Journal progress. According to the community wiki, it shows how many creatures you have encountered and how many are needed to complete the Journal. Grey slots mark unencountered entries required for the Hunter’s Memento; entries that do not count toward that reward are not shown as grey slots.

- Obtain the Hunter’s Journal from Nuu at the Halfway Home.
- Construct Farsight.
- Check the grey slots to identify missing entries that count toward the Memento.
- Use an up-to-date regional map or enemy database to find a route to the missing creatures. The available location references do not establish an exhaustive route for every entry.
What does the Hunter’s Journal reward?
Once you have met the requirement for your mode, return to Nuu and speak to her to receive the Hunter’s Memento. You can display the Memento on a shelf in Bellhome, and receiving it grants the True Hunter achievement. See the Hunter’s Memento details.

No. The Memento threshold is lower than the total number of obtainable entries in both modes. Use Farsight’s grey slots to focus on entries required for the reward rather than treating 100% of all obtainable entries as the same goal.
