For finding areas, characters, collectibles, and secrets in Hollow Knight: Silksong, an interactive browser map can add searchable markers and filters to the game’s own map. It is a third-party aid, not an official or verified-complete map: Silksong Map lists 29 areas in its directory, while The Mist is reported to have no fixed map.
What an interactive Silksong map can do
Silksong Map describes a browser map with zoom and pan controls for mouse or touch, a fullscreen view, language selection, search, and filters for points of interest. Its listed categories include bosses, NPCs, collectibles, secrets, and areas. The provider says basic map and point-of-interest browsing is available without registration; saving and syncing progress requires signing in and a Basic or Pro plan. These are the service’s stated features, so check its current map and account terms before relying on them.
The provider’s guide advertises seven languages, and its directory lists 29 named areas. That is a count of areas listed by Silksong Map, not an official total for Pharloom or proof that every location or collectible is marked. The directory names areas including Bellhart, Bilewater, Blasted Steps, Choral Chambers, Cogwork Core, Deep Docks, Far Fields, Greymoor, Moss Grotto, Mount Fay, Shellwood, The Abyss, The Marrow, Underworks, Verdania, and Wormways. See Silksong Map’s directory and map.
How the in-game map works
The game’s map is built through exploration rather than by consulting a browser map. The Hollow Knight Wiki describes the Map as charting rooms and passages and the Quill as recording newly discovered areas. Most area maps are purchased from Shakra; Citadel maps are obtained from machines, and some maps are found in the world. After exploring uncharted sections, rest at a bench to record them on the map. The Compass marks the player’s position. Map prices vary by area, so check in-game rather than relying on a price list that may be out of date. Read the Hollow Knight Wiki’s Silksong map reference.

Choosing between the in-game map and an external map
| Need | In-game map | Silksong Map browser resource |
|---|---|---|
| See discovered rooms and passages | Updates after exploration and resting at a bench. | Provides a separate browser map, according to the service. |
| Find a particular point of interest | Shows the player’s mapped discoveries; the Compass marks the player. | Offers search and category filters, according to the service. |
| Track progress | The Quill records newly discovered areas after a bench rest. | The provider says saving and syncing progress requires sign-in and a Basic or Pro plan. |
| Coverage certainty | Reflects areas the player has charted in-game. | The provider lists 29 areas; this is not an official or independently verified completeness count. |
Use the game map to orient yourself during play and confirm what you have actually charted. A browser map is more useful when you want to search or filter a category, but treat its markers as third-party guidance rather than an authoritative checklist. The provider describes mouse and touch controls and language selection; check the live site for current mobile usability and language availability.
The Mist is an exception to static maps
PC Gamer’s guide, published September 10, 2025, reports that The Mist has no map and changes structure between visits. It describes golden moths that respond to Needolin as cues toward an entrance, with the route taking about four or five rooms. These are guide-reported navigation details, not a guarantee about every game version; if the area behaves differently, rely on what you encounter in-game. Read PC Gamer’s guide to The Mist.
Rank #2
- Hollow Knight: Silksong is the epic sequel to Hollow Knight, the award winning action-adventure.
- Journey to all-new lands, discover new powers, battle vast hordes of bugs and beasts and uncover secrets tied to your nature and your past.
Using map markers without spoiling the search
- Start with the area: Search the region name or filter to areas before narrowing down to a specific type of marker.
- Choose a marker category: Use the provider’s listed categories—such as NPCs, bosses, collectibles, or secrets—only when that is what you are looking for.
- Keep your in-game map current: Explore and rest at a bench so the Quill records newly discovered sections.
- Do not assume an empty map means nothing is there: Third-party marker coverage is not verified as complete, and The Mist is reported to lack a stable map.
