Hollow Knight: Silksong Patch 2, version 1.0.28650, went live in September 2025. It focused on bug fixes and specific tools, and added an optional dithering setting for PC. Team Cherry’s early Patch 3 preview promised more fixes and extra attention to PC controller support—but Patch 3 has since released, and later updates have followed.
When Silksong Patch 2 released
Team Cherry announced Patch 2 on September 23, 2025, saying it was available on all platforms. Steam lists version 1.0.28650 on September 21, 2025. These dates reflect the official post and Steam’s version listing, respectively; the patch is not a new update.
Team Cherry’s Patch 2 announcement describes an update aimed at remaining issues and bugs, including problems involving specific tools.
What Patch 2 changed
PC-only dithering option
Patch 2 added a dithering effect in the Advanced video settings on PC. Team Cherry said it can reduce colour banding, while slightly softening foreground assets; it is off by default. It is an optional graphics adjustment, not a gameplay requirement.

Bug fixes and achievement text
The notes cover fixes across boss encounters, out-of-bounds situations, softlocks, tool damage, NPC dialogue, cocoon locations and consumables. They also adjust the description for the Herald’s Wish achievement. Team Cherry said the fixes would apply retroactively, so players blocked by a significant bug could continue.
Simplified Chinese translation update
In its September 23 post, Team Cherry said improving the Simplified Chinese translation was its first priority beyond regular fixes. It reported that a new script was in progress and estimated delivery in three to four weeks, with implementation to follow. That was an estimate made at the time, not a guaranteed schedule. The studio also mentioned a fan-made full-translation mod for Simplified Chinese players.

What Team Cherry initially said about Patch 3
When Patch 2 launched, Team Cherry said it was working on another round of fixes for Patch 3, with particular attention to improving controller support on PC. The studio hoped to cover as many remaining issues as possible and said Steam and GOG players could try interim builds through those platforms’ public-beta branches.
That was an early preview, not the final Patch 3 feature list. Team Cherry later published the update’s details on November 6, 2025, after the patch had already reached PC and consoles.

What Patch 3 eventually added
Team Cherry’s later notes list DualSense Edge controller support, improved support for various controllers on Mac, and several other controller fixes. They also specify: “Game now pauses when the controller disconnects.”
Patch 3 was not just a controller update: the notes also include remaining bug fixes, several out-of-bounds fixes, balance adjustments to selected attacks and rewards, and a softlock fix. Steam’s official feed dates version 1.0.28891 to October 13, 2025. Team Cherry’s Patch 3 details were published later, on November 6.

Patch 3 is no longer upcoming
Team Cherry’s blog index records Patch 4 as live in November 2025 and Patch 5 as live for PC platforms in March 2026, with consoles still to follow at that point. The official Steam announcements also include later updates. For the latest version or the current console rollout, check the relevant platform’s announcement rather than relying on the original Patch 2-era preview: Team Cherry’s blog and the official Steam news feed.
