How wishes work
The Hollow Knight Wiki describes wishes as requests from characters around Pharloom or from wishwalls in Bone Bottom, Bellhart, and Songclave. It groups them into types including Wayfarer, Gather, Hunt, and Grand Hunt. Nintendo Life’s September 17, 2025 guide also distinguishes donation and gathering requests: donations spend Rosaries or Shell Shards, while gathering tasks ask for particular objects, sometimes from specific enemies.
Accept a wish before farming for its requested items, then use the Tasks menu to track the active objective and its hints. The available descriptions do not establish a universal turn-in procedure or exact turn-in point for every wish. Where the table below says “not stated,” the available guide information does not specify the turn-in location; check the active task and revisit its giver or wishwall if the game directs you there.

Nintendo Life’s February 27, 2026 Act 3 guide reports the following route. It also says the precise requirements were debated when the guide was published, so treat this as a reported path rather than a universal, confirmed checklist.

Starting Silk and Soul
According to the same Act 3 guide, speak with the Caretaker in Songclave after the listed objectives. The Caretaker requests four materials: three souls and one Weaver tool. Delivering them lets the Caretaker build the Soul Snare. The guide identifies the Maiden’s Soul as being near the place where Hornet was found, and says the Hermit is reached through a hidden wall from the Bellhart Bellway. Those descriptions do not establish the locations of all four materials, so they are not a complete collection walkthrough.
Herald’s Wish achievement and patch version
Steam’s official patch notes for version 1.0.28650, dated September 21, 2025, clarify the achievement condition: “Updated Herald’s Wish achievement description to clarify that players must both complete the wish and finish the game.” Completing the wish alone is therefore not the full condition stated in that version’s notes. Check the current patch notes if you are troubleshooting an achievement, since game updates can change fixes or wording.
