The claim that Sunday would appear as a boss in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.6 was an unverified rumor, not an official announcement. Its original leak source could not be traced, and HoYoverse’s Version 2.6 announcement did not confirm it. The story is now historical: HoYoverse published Version 4.6 update details on September 28, 2026.
Was Sunday really leaked as a Version 2.6 boss?
A retrospective article published by Position Is Everything on May 15, 2026, circulated the claim that Sunday would be a Version 2.6 boss. It also described details such as mechanics, phases and rewards as tentative. The article does not identify a traceable original leak post or datamine, so it establishes that the rumor circulated—not that the claim was accurate. Position Is Everything’s recap likewise says the claim was not officially confirmed.
What HoYoverse confirmed about Version 2.6
HoYoverse announced Version 2.6, titled “Annals of Pinecany’s Mappou Age,” for release on October 23, 2024. The announcement highlighted a return to Penacony and Paperfold University’s festivities, the 5-star character Rappa, the Unknowable Domain Simulated Universe DLC and returning limited characters. It did not name Sunday as a Version 2.6 boss. Read the Version 2.6 announcement via Games Press.
Why Sunday’s Version 2.2 story boss is a separate claim
A June 29, 2024 HoYoLAB post by user Nate M. discusses Sunday as the final boss of the Version 2.2 Trailblazing mission. That community post provides story context, but it does not support a later Version 2.6 encounter or establish where the Version 2.6 rumor began. See the HoYoLAB post.

Version 2.6 is now historical
Version 2.6 is not a current or upcoming patch. On September 28, 2026, HoYoverse published update details for Version 4.6, “Dance With the Beast Before Moonrise.” That later official update confirms how far the game had progressed beyond 2.6 by then; it does not retroactively verify the Sunday rumor. How to judge the claim
- Official confirmation: HoYoverse’s Version 2.6 announcement is authoritative for the patch’s announced content, and it did not confirm Sunday as a boss.
- Provenance: The retrospective recap does not expose an original leak source, so the underlying claim cannot be independently checked from that account.
- Timing: The recap appeared after Version 2.6 had already been announced and released; it is not evidence of a fresh or current leak.
