Critics’ reactions to Hot Wheels Let’s Race: Ultimate Speed lean positive, but the available sample is too small to establish a firm consensus. Metacritic’s PS5 page shows three review scores—85, 80 and 60—and says its Metascore is unavailable until four critic reviews. Reviewers praise its accessible, imaginative family racing, while one flags handling as a significant weakness.
What are critics’ scores for Hot Wheels Let’s Race: Ultimate Speed?
Metacritic’s PS5 listing displays three individual critic scores. They are not an aggregate Metascore, and the page states that a Metascore becomes available after four critic reviews. That makes this a small, platform-specific snapshot—not a settled verdict across platforms.
| Outlet | Platform | Score | Review date | Main takeaway |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gamesurf | PS5 | 85 | October 31, 2025 | Praised the imaginative appeal, moderate challenge and potential for family play. |
| GameGrin | PS5 | 80 | October 24, 2025 | Called it accessible across skill levels and praised the classic vehicles. |
| GameSpew | PS5 | 60 | October 24, 2025 | Saw appeal for young fans of the show, but criticized handling and other frustrations. |
The scores and review details are listed on Metacritic’s PS5 critic page. The spread—from 60 to 85—also shows why the three entries should be read individually rather than treated as a broad critical consensus.
What do the reviews praise and criticize?
Accessible, imaginative racing
Gamesurf’s 85-point review emphasizes imaginative play and a challenge it considers suitable for family fun. GameGrin’s 80-point review likewise stresses accessibility for players of different skill levels, alongside the appeal of seeing classic Hot Wheels vehicles. Taken together, those reviews suggest the game’s strongest critical case is as approachable arcade racing for fans who want to play casually or together.

Handling is a notable reservation
GameSpew’s 60-point review acknowledges that young viewers of the Netflix series may enjoy the amount of content, but objects to the handling and other frustrations. It also compares the game unfavorably with Hot Wheels Unleashed. That is one reviewer’s comparison, not evidence of a broader head-to-head assessment.
What kind of game is it?
Hot Wheels Let’s Race: Ultimate Speed is an arcade racer based on the Netflix animated series. Bamtang Games developed it, and GameMill Entertainment published it. The publisher’s descriptions list five modes: Racing Camp, Cup Champ, Speed Trials, Track Builder and Free Races. They also advertise character and car selection, themed tracks, boss encounters, unlockable cars, decals and track pieces, and local split-screen for up to four players. These are publisher-stated features, not independent critical findings. The game received an ESRB E for Everyone rating, with Comic Mischief and Mild Fantasy Violence descriptors.

Is it worth considering for kids or family play?
The positive reviews’ emphasis on accessibility and family-friendly imaginative play makes the game a plausible fit for children and Hot Wheels or Netflix-series fans. The handling criticism is the main caution in the available reviews. The PS5 listing on the US PlayStation Store identifies the game as playable offline and supports one to four players; those details are specific to that listing and platform. The ESRB rating and descriptors can help families judge content, but they do not address how the game feels to play.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which platforms and editions are available?
The game launched on October 24, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC, according to the publisher’s official trailer description. The US PlayStation Store lists Standard and Deluxe editions, as well as a separate High Voltage Speed Pack add-on. Check the store for the current edition contents and prices, which can change. The available critic scores above are PS5 reviews; the Xbox listing surfaced positive-sounding excerpts but not a complete score table, so they cannot establish an Xbox average or cross-platform consensus.
