Catching uses an encounter-specific formula: a base chance is multiplied by your capture item, level relationship and either backstab or target HP, then adjusted for status. Lumin, Gamma and Nova are the stages used in the official catch table. Regional, weather/time, Alpha and iridescent forms are separate collection categories described by community references, not one universal rarity ladder.
The Aniimo official website publishes the formulas and multipliers, checked in 2026. Use those figures to choose a pod and improve an encounter, but treat form names, hidden triggers and extra potential effects as community-reported unless your current game client confirms them.

What a catch chance actually measures
The displayed chance is built from a base chance and encounter modifiers. The base chance already includes the Aniimo’s underlying base chance multiplied by one plus the Pathfinder’s Catch Bonus. The official page identifies Branches and Regional Badges as sources of that bonus.
That means a listed percentage is not a species-wide constant. It changes with area progression, the target’s Lumin, Gamma or Nova stage, your Pathfinder bonus, the pod you throw, the level gap, the target’s HP or your backstab position, and the status rule. The official page does not publish a single per-species number that can be used everywhere.

The three official capture formulas
Outside battle
For an ordinary field capture outside battle, Aniimo gives this formula:
Base Catch Chance × Aniipod Multiplier × Level Multiplier × Backstab Multiplier × Aniimo Status Multiplier
Backstab contributes ×1.5. The official page says this modifier is invalid when you use Tumblers, so a Tumbler throw should not be evaluated as a normal backstab attempt.

In battle, the backstab term is replaced by the target’s HP:
Base Catch Chance × Aniipod Multiplier × Level Multiplier × HP Multiplier × Aniimo Status Multiplier
Lower HP improves the listed multiplier. The official HP table gives ×0.8 at 100% HP, ×1 at 80%, ×1.1 at 50%, ×1.26 at 10%, ×1.65 at 5% and ×2 at 0%.

Alpha Aniimo
Alpha encounters use a shorter formula:
Alpha Aniimo’s Base Catch Chance × Aniipod Multiplier
The official table lists a 6% Alpha base chance. It does not say to apply the ordinary area-and-stage matrix or the normal level, HP, backstab and status terms to this Alpha formula. Do not calculate an Alpha attempt by combining rows from the standard table.
Official base chances by area and stage
These values are starting chances before applicable multipliers and the Pathfinder Catch Bonus incorporated into the base chance. They are published by the Aniimo official website and are not independent laboratory measurements.

The downward trend across area progression is why the same stage label can feel harder to catch later in the game. The table is a starting point, not a promise that every attempt will resolve at that percentage.
Which Aniipod should you use?
The official page lists these item effects:

The official source gives the same ×2 multiplier to Hyper, Trace and Mega but does not explain all practical differences. A secondary community guide describes Hyper as faster with longer range, Trace as auto-tracking and Mega as a straightforward multiplier. Check the item description in your current client before relying on those handling differences.
An unofficial guide additionally claims that Ultra guarantees at least Elite acquired potential, while Sparkling Cube guarantees Perfect potential and a Sparkling result. Those are guide-reported effects, not details established by the official probability page; verify them in the current game UI.

How level, HP, backstab and status change the result
Level gap
Calculate the level difference as Aniimo level minus Pathfinder level. A target up to 10 levels above you uses ×1. At +11 the multiplier is ×0.8; at +12 it is ×0.6; at +13 it is ×0.4; at +14 it is ×0.2; and at +15 or more it is ×0.1.
This is a steep penalty. A stronger pod cannot fully compensate for a large level gap: moving from Aniipod Pro (×1.5) to a ×2 pod helps, but it does not erase the ×0.2 or ×0.1 level multiplier.
HP in battle
Battle captures improve as the target’s HP falls. The official values are not a smooth linear scale, so the jump from 10% (×1.26) to 5% (×1.65) is especially important. At 0% HP the listed multiplier is ×2. Use the HP term only for the in-battle formula; it is not an extra factor for an outside-battle throw.

Backstab outside battle
A successful backstab is ×1.5 outside battle. It is a meaningful bonus when you can approach safely, but it cannot be combined with a Tumbler because the official page marks backstab as invalid for that item.
Status effects
Status handling is conditional rather than additive. If several statuses are active and at least one is a debuff, the lowest active status multiplier is used. If no debuff is active, the highest active status multiplier is used. The official page reviewed here does not provide numerical values for each individual status, so do not substitute an unofficial status table for the official rule.
How to increase your catch chance: a practical sequence
- Identify the encounter type. Decide whether the Aniimo is being captured outside battle, in battle or as an Alpha. This selects the formula before you choose a pod.
- Read the stage and area row. Use the official Lumin, Gamma or Nova row for the area’s progression. For an Alpha, use the separate 6% base chance instead.
- Account for your Catch Bonus. Branches and Regional Badges increase the base chance through the Pathfinder Catch Bonus. The official page does not provide a universal bonus value for every progression state, so use the value shown by your game.
- Fix the level penalty first. If the target is 11 or more levels above you, gaining levels can be more valuable than switching between ordinary pods because the multiplier drops to ×0.8 or below.
- Choose the strongest applicable pod. Aniipod Pro is ×1.5; Hyper, Trace and Mega are ×2; a Tumbler is ×2 normally and ×6 for Aniimo gathered by Nurture. Use a guaranteed-success item when the encounter or item supply justifies it.
- For an outside-battle throw, set up a backstab. A valid backstab contributes ×1.5. Do not plan a backstab when using a Tumbler.
- For a battle capture, lower HP. The listed multiplier rises from ×0.8 at full health to ×2 at 0% HP, with the largest published improvement between 10% and 5%.
- Review statuses. When any debuff is active, the lowest active status multiplier controls the result. Otherwise, the highest active multiplier controls it.
- Check for a scripted exception. Some story encounters can force success or failure when the Aniimo is in Break or Backstab state, or when the attempt occurs outside battle. In those cases, the ordinary multiplication does not decide the result.
Worked examples for reading the multipliers
These are arithmetic illustrations of the published formula, not measured success rates. The game’s handling of a raw product above 100% and any individual status value must be confirmed in the client.

Outside-battle Lumin example
Suppose an early-game Lumin starts at 56%. A valid backstab and an Aniipod Pro contribute ×1.5 each. Before the level and status terms, the raw product is 56% × 1.5 × 1.5 = 126%. That number shows the value of the two modifiers; it does not establish that the game displays or resolves a 126% chance.
In-battle late-area example
A late-game Gamma starts at 24%. With a ×2 pod, a level multiplier of ×1, and the target at 10% HP (×1.26), the product before status is 24% × 2 × 1 × 1.26 = 60.48%. Any status multiplier and Pathfinder Catch Bonus still have to be applied according to the game’s rules.
Why a level gap can dominate
Take the same 24% starting chance and ×2 pod, but a target 14 levels above the Pathfinder. The level term becomes ×0.2, producing 24% × 2 × 0.2 = 9.6% before the other applicable terms. This is why a lower-level target or a stronger Pathfinder progression can matter more than changing between the three ordinary ×2 pods.

There are two different vocabularies to keep separate.
Lumin, Gamma and Nova: official catch stages
Lumin, Gamma and Nova are the labels used in the official base-chance table. Their listed starting chances differ by area, with Lumin highest and Nova lowest in every standard row. They describe the stage category used for capture probability; they should not be treated as a complete, universal rarity ladder for every visual or collection form.
Forms and categories: community terminology
A community guide separately describes basic, regional, weather/time, Alpha and iridescent forms. Regional forms are linked to geography; weather/time forms depend on environmental or clock conditions; Alpha forms are field-boss encounters; and iridescent forms are visually distinct variants. These categories describe how an Aniimo appears or is encountered, not a replacement for the Lumin/Gamma/Nova catch-stage table.

The same guide discusses Umbral Iridescent and Hidden Pixel forms. Those claims, including any hidden trigger or spawn requirement, are community-reported and are not confirmed by the official probability page. Treat them as unverified until the current game provides an explicit description.
Alpha is both a form category and a special catch rule
Alpha is the one term that appears in both discussions, but the contexts still differ. Community material uses Alpha for a field-boss form, while the official probability page gives Alpha Aniimo its own 6% base chance and a separate two-factor formula. Do not infer an ordinary Lumin, Gamma or Nova percentage for an Alpha merely because the form has another visual or collection trait.
Nurture probabilities are not a universal shiny chance
Nurture has its own published probability mechanics. The Aniimo official website, checked in 2026, lists a 3% chance of directly triggering Prismana Flow with Vein Essence and 480 Prismatic Energy for direct obtainment. It also lists a pity requirement of 10,500 Prismana.

The official page says eligible catches are checked after specified gameplay progress, with superlucky checked before lucky. Weekly counters reset at different local server times for APAC, Europe and the Americas. None of these figures should be presented as the chance that any ordinary capture is shiny, iridescent or otherwise rare.
Why your catch chance may look low
- You used the wrong base row. Area progression and Lumin/Gamma/Nova stage both matter, and Alpha uses a separate base chance.
- The target is too far above your level. At +15 or more, the level multiplier is only ×0.1.
- The target is still healthy. In battle, 100% HP is ×0.8, while 5% HP is ×1.65.
- You expected a backstab bonus with a Tumbler. The official rule excludes backstab for Tumblers.
- A debuff is suppressing another status. When any debuff is active, the lowest active status multiplier wins.
- The encounter is scripted. Certain story situations can force success or failure regardless of the normal calculation.
- You treated a form name as a catch stage. Regional, weather/time, Alpha and iridescent descriptions do not replace the official Lumin/Gamma/Nova terms.
Keeping the numbers current
Capture mechanics, event rewards, item descriptions and form availability can change with patches. The official probability page is the primary reference for the formulas and numeric tables; community guides are useful for terminology and practical handling but should not override an in-game description. Recheck the official page and the current client before planning around a multiplier, a guaranteed item or a rumored form trigger.
