Plan for about 75 GB or more if you want The Sims 4 base game and every DLC pack installed, plus extra room for updates, saves, mods, and custom content. That is a practical estimate, not an official EA total: EA’s published requirements specify free space to install and run the game, not the final size with all DLC.
How much space does The Sims 4 need with all packs?
A third-party pack-size compilation put the base game plus all listed packs at approximately 75.3 GB as of November 2025. The compilation describes its figures as download sizes and notes that sizes can change after installation, so treat 75.3 GB as an estimate rather than a guaranteed installed footprint. A separate EA Forums community answer estimated “just over 60” GB, but the person answering said they did not have some of the smaller packs. That figure is therefore an incomplete rough estimate, not a precise alternative total. EA Forums discussion
Because estimates differ in coverage and method, there is no established universal size for every installation. Your occupied space depends on the packs installed, updates, platform, and user content.

EA’s official free-space requirements
EA lists these storage requirements for the PC and Mac versions:

How much space should you reserve?
If you intend to install the full library, aim for around 75 GB or more for the game and packs, and leave further headroom for updates and your saves, mods, and custom content. The 75.3 GB figure is a dated third-party download-size estimate, so a drive with only that much free space may not leave enough room for an installation or later changes.
If storage is tight, an external SSD can be a way to add capacity, but check that it works with your device and the launcher’s install-location options before buying or moving the game. EA’s documentation does not establish universal external-drive support across platforms.

Check what is installed or free up space
Check installed add-ons
On PC or Mac, check the EA app’s game management options to see installed add-ons. The in-game Marketplace also has a Manage Storage view for inspecting installed packs. EA describes its Pack Selection feature as a way to activate or deactivate packs without uninstalling them; it can help manage game resources, but EA does not say that deactivation frees disk space. Mac and save-file note
EA says the Mac version is digital-only and describes transferring save files between PC and Mac with a USB drive or other portable storage. That guidance concerns save-file transfer; it does not confirm that every platform supports installing The Sims 4 itself on an external drive. EA’s The Sims 4 FAQ
