No Rest for the Wicked co-op is online play in a shared Realm: up to four players total—one host and as many as three friends—can share a world and campaign. The Together update launched on Steam on January 22, 2026, so co-op is live, not just a planned feature or beta.

How co-op works

Co-op takes place in a shared Realm rather than as a brief visit to another player’s separate world. Moon Studios describes Realms as persistent shared worlds that friends shape together. In its overview, the studio gives two examples of cooperation: trading items face-to-face and placing items in shared chests. Steam’s listing describes sharing the world and campaign with friends.

That establishes the broad shared-world model, but not every save rule. The available official descriptions do not specify exactly how each quest flag, personal inventory, or character progression behaves between players, so it is safer not to assume that every part of a character’s progress synchronizes.

How many players can play together?

The current Steam listing specifies online co-op for up to four players total: one player can share the world and campaign with up to three friends. It does not describe a larger party size.

Is co-op available now?

Yes. Moon Studios announced that No Rest for the Wicked Together was live on January 22, 2026. The Steam listing also identifies online co-op as a game feature. The earlier beta instructions should not be confused with the launch: the December 2025 test used Steam friend invites to join a Realm and had separate saves on its Experimental branch. Those were beta-specific details, not verified current live-version setup steps.

How do you invite friends?

The available official sources establish that friends can join a Realm, but they do not provide a current click-by-click walkthrough for the live version. Moon Studios’ December 2025 beta post said to add friends on Steam and invite them to a Realm; because those instructions applied to an Experimental test branch, do not rely on them as current menu directions. For the live game, follow the current in-game interface or a newer official guide.

Realm co-op versus playing solo

Steam describes the game as playable alone as well as online with friends. The distinction supported by the official descriptions is that a shared Realm lets friends contribute to a persistent shared world, including through direct trades and shared chests. The sources do not establish that solo and co-op play share all character progress or quest state.

What’s next for the game?

Co-op is already live; it is separate from the game’s remaining Early Access plans. In a September 1, 2026 announcement, Moon Studios moved the planned 1.0 release to March 2027 and mentioned another open beta planned for December. That future beta is not the Together launch that brought co-op to Steam in January 2026.
