“Computer Control For Your Xbox Controller” describes a 2012 Xbox 360 modification in which a PC sits between a wired controller and a modified controller connected to the console. C# software reads and records inputs from the wired controller, then can use those inputs to build button-triggered macros. How the computer-control setup works
The signal path is important: the wired Xbox 360 controller is the PC’s input device. The PC processes those inputs and passes them to a second, modified controller that communicates with the Xbox. The computer is not being controlled by an Xbox controller.

This allows a button press on the input controller to trigger a stored sequence through the modified controller.
