For the floating city from Legion, use a Dalaran Hearthstone if your character has one. Otherwise, travel from Stormwind or Orgrimmar to Azsuna through the capital’s portal room, then fly east to Dalaran. These routes lead to Legion Dalaran in the Broken Isles—not the older Dalaran in Northrend.
Choose the route that fits your character

The Hearthstone and portal routes are reported by Warcraft Tavern’s Dalaran travel guide; Mage spell names are included there as well. Spell access and portal availability can depend on your character and the live game, so check your spellbook or the capital portal room if an option is missing.

Use the Dalaran Hearthstone if you have it
Open your Toy Box and look for the Dalaran Hearthstone. If your character has it and can use it, activate it to travel directly to Legion Dalaran. The route guide reports that characters who started the Legion campaign on a character in their Warband should have the item in their Toy Box, but do not assume every character or account has it.
Travel from Stormwind or Orgrimmar through Azsuna
- Go to your faction capital’s portal room. For Alliance, use Stormwind; for Horde, use Orgrimmar.
- Take the portal to Azsuna. This takes you to the Broken Isles zone, not directly to Dalaran.
- Fly east to the floating city. Once in Azsuna, use your mount or another available flight option to reach Legion Dalaran.
If the Azsuna portal is not present or usable, use another available route, such as your Dalaran Hearthstone or a Mage’s Broken Isles Dalaran spell.

Use a Mage teleport or portal
A Mage with access to Teleport: Dalaran – Broken Isles can travel there personally. A Mage with Portal: Dalaran – Broken Isles can open a portal for other players. These are class spells, not options available to every character; confirm the spell is available in the Mage’s spellbook before relying on it.
Which Dalaran does this route reach?
This guide’s destination is the Legion-era city above the Broken Isles. Dalaran also existed in Northrend during the Wrath of the Lich King story, so simply searching for “Dalaran” can lead to instructions for a different version. Check that a guide or map says Broken Isles if you want the Legion hub.

There is also a story-versus-gameplay distinction. In Blizzard’s The War Within timeline, Xal’atath’s assault ends with Dalaran’s destruction. That is the narrative chronology; it does not, by itself, establish that the legacy Legion location used for older content is inaccessible. The practical travel routes above are reported by the route guide, rather than confirmed by that story timeline.

Do you need game time to travel there?
Reaching Dalaran is a route question, not a subscription requirement. Separately, Blizzard’s starter guide says subscription or game time is needed to continue beyond level 20. That is a general game-access limit, not a special requirement for the city.
