Dave the Diver connects daytime exploration in the Blue Hole to running a sushi restaurant at night: fish caught on dives become ingredients for the restaurant. The two activities form a repeating supply-and-service loop, with the risk of losing items if Dave dies during an exploration.
How the two activities fit together
MINTROCKET describes the game as divided largely into “Blue Hole exploration” and “Sushi restaurant operation.” The official Steam listing likewise pairs daytime exploration and fishing with nighttime sushi restaurant management, and identifies the game as a single-player adventure RPG.

Daytime: explore and gather
Dave dives into the Blue Hole to explore and catch fish. This phase supplies resources for the restaurant rather than functioning as an unrelated fishing activity.
Nighttime: turn the catch into service
At night, the sushi restaurant operates using fish caught during dives. Cooking and serving connect the gathered supply to the restaurant’s management side of play.

What makes the loop a meaningful choice
The exploration phase carries a risk: MINTROCKET’s official press materials state that items acquired during exploration disappear if Dave dies. That loss applies to the exploration haul; it is not described as a penalty imposed on the restaurant. The player must weigh gathering more against returning safely with what has already been collected.
How much time does each half take?
The official descriptions establish the day-and-night sequence, but do not quantify what share of playtime is spent diving versus managing the restaurant. It is more accurate to describe the game as alternating between linked activities than to assign them a fixed time split.
