Seasons are collections of heroes for Dice Throne’s core competitive game; Dice Throne Adventures is a cooperative campaign expansion that uses those heroes. “Sagas” is not identified as a Dice Throne product or mode in the publisher materials reviewed, so there is no verified third category to compare. If you want hero-versus-hero matchups, look at the Season sets. If you want co-op scenarios, bosses, loot, and campaign play, Adventures is the relevant change in format—and you need hero characters to play it.

At a glance: what each name means

Product or term What it adds How it changes play What to know
Dice Throne Seasons Sets of distinct heroes for the core Dice Throne system Players face off in competitive combat, using hero abilities, dice, cards, and combat points The publisher describes standard Dice Throne as a 2–6 player game, with formats including one-on-one, teams, and free-for-all. The official store lists Season One and Season Two Battle Chests.
Dice Throne Adventures Cooperative campaign content, including generated worlds, boss battles, loot, and legacy elements Players cooperate through campaign scenarios rather than simply choosing opposing heroes It is an expansion, not a box of regular-play heroes. The publisher campaign FAQ says players need one hero per player and supports up to four heroes in a campaign.
“Sagas” Not established in the publisher materials reviewed No verified rules, mode, or product description to compare Do not assume this is a released Dice Throne product or a third play format without a specific product reference.

The central distinction is between a hero collection and a campaign expansion. Seasons supply characters for the core game; Adventures supplies a cooperative structure in which players use characters. They are not three equivalent boxes, and Adventures does not replace the Seasons as a source of heroes.

What a Season does

Seasons are hero sets, not campaign formats

In Dice Throne, a Season groups heroes designed for the core combat system. Each hero has distinct abilities and a unique set of five dice. Players use those dice alongside cards and combat points to shape their turns and fight opponents. The publisher’s campaign FAQ describes standard Dice Throne as a 2–6 player game, with one-on-one, team, and free-for-all formats.

That description helps clarify what buying a Season is for: adding hero choices to competitive play. The Season label does not mean that the contents are a chapter in a cooperative story, nor does it by itself indicate a different game engine. To decide between hero sets, compare the roster and play styles shown for each box; the available source material does not provide a complete roster-by-roster comparison here.

Battle Chests and the current product categories

The official store separates Season Battle Chests from expansion products. In the reviewed store snapshot, the Multipacks page listed Season One Battle Chest and Season Two Battle Chest, alongside Marvel Battle Chests. The Expansions listing included Dice Throne Adventures and Marvel Dice Throne Missions. These categories reflect different roles: Battle Chests are multi-hero products, while Adventures adds a campaign experience.

Store listings and stock labels are snapshots, not guarantees of future availability. For example, the reviewed Multipacks listing marked the X-Men chest sold out; that status should not be treated as permanent. Check the publisher’s store for current listings and stock before purchasing. A store listing establishes that a named product is offered or was listed in that snapshot, not that it is available from every retailer.

What Adventures changes

From competitive matchups to cooperative campaign play

Adventures changes the structure of the experience. The publisher describes it as a cooperative campaign featuring generated worlds, boss battles, loot, and legacy elements. Instead of selecting an opponent and playing a standard competitive matchup, players work together through campaign content. The specific experience therefore depends not only on which hero a player chooses, but also on the scenarios and campaign progression.

Dice Throne Box Game - Strategic Dice & Card Battler (Gunslinger v Samurai)
  • HEROES CLASH IN HEAD-TO-HEAD DUEL: Enter the arena with Treant and Ninja, each with unique abilities, themed attacks, and custom dice. Face off in an epic battle where every roll counts.

The key buyer distinction is format, not a claim that one product is a more complete version of the other. If your group wants direct competition, a Season’s heroes are the relevant content. If your group wants to cooperate against campaign challenges, Adventures is the relevant expansion. The two answer different play preferences.

Adventures needs heroes

The publisher campaign FAQ says Adventures does not supply regular-play heroes: players need one hero per player, and the FAQ describes campaigns with up to four heroes. That means someone considering Adventures should first make sure the group has access to enough eligible hero characters. The FAQ says all versions of Dice Throne are compatible with Adventures, so the source does not indicate that a particular Season is mandatory.

Do not read “compatible with all versions” as “contains every character you need.” Compatibility means the versions can be used together according to the FAQ; the same FAQ’s separate hero requirement means players still need characters. If the group already owns heroes, the relevant question is whether it has one per participant. If it does not, choose a hero product as well as the campaign expansion.

Season One and Season One: Rerolled

Season One: Rerolled is an updated presentation of the original Season One, rather than a separate campaign mode. The publisher’s campaign FAQ says it was visually and physically upgraded to match Season Two. The listed changes include full-art cards, uniform card backs, a tri-fold board, and color-coded dice, along with minor rules adjustments intended to improve clarity and the player experience.

Version What the publisher FAQ establishes Practical implication
Original Season One It remains playable; the FAQ does not describe it as incompatible with Adventures. Existing owners are not told they must replace it to use the campaign expansion.
Season One: Rerolled Updated components and presentation, plus minor rules changes. Buyers choosing between the two should consider the updated presentation and rules clarifications, not assume the original is unusable.

The same FAQ says all versions of Dice Throne work with Adventures. It does not say that the original Season One has the Rerolled component updates, so buyers who care about those physical changes should check which edition a product listing actually names. The FAQ was last updated in 2019; for rules questions that depend on a specific current edition, consult the relevant rulebook rather than treating that FAQ as a replacement for it.

What “Sagas” means—and what is not established

The publisher product and campaign pages reviewed do not verify a Dice Throne product, ruleset, or mode called “Sagas.” That leaves the word unresolved. It could be a mistaken or informal reference, but the available first-party material does not establish which, and it would be misleading to invent a product description, player count, contents, or release status for it.

  • Attack opponents and activate abilities by rolling your hero's unique set of five dice. • Expand your Marvel Dice Throne collection and play with up to 6 players, choosing from 8 heroes, with expansions featuring Captain Marvel and Black Panther in one set, and Black Widow and Doctor Strange in another set. These collections are compatible with the entire Dice Throne ecosystem from Roxley Games.

  • 2-4 Players (2-6 Players with Expansions) | Ages 8+ | 30+ Minute Play Time

If “Sagas” appears in a listing, post, or conversation you saw, verify the exact title and publisher before treating it as part of Dice Throne. Until there is a specific, verifiable product reference, compare Seasons and Adventures as the confirmed categories and regard “Sagas” as an unverified term—not as a third option equivalent to either one.

Which should you choose?

Choose a Season when you want more competitive hero options

  • You want one-on-one, team, or free-for-all combat in the core game.
  • Your group needs additional heroes or wants a different roster of abilities and dice.
  • You want a product that supplies characters for regular Dice Throne play.
  • You are comparing Season boxes: inspect their included heroes and match the roster to your group’s preferences.

Choose Adventures when you want cooperative campaign play

  • Your group wants scenarios, generated worlds, boss battles, loot, and a campaign structure.
  • You are prepared to supply one hero per player; the campaign FAQ describes up to four heroes in a campaign.
  • You already have eligible heroes, or plan to acquire a Season or other hero set as well.
  • You want to use heroes from different Dice Throne versions; the publisher FAQ says all versions are compatible.

Do not choose based on “Sagas” without identifying the product

No verified product details are available for that name in the publisher material reviewed. A seller’s use of the word alone is not enough to establish what is in the box or whether it is an official Dice Throne release. Confirm the exact product name and its contents before making a purchase decision.

Rules, versions, and current product information

The publisher’s downloads page lists Rulebook Version 2.4.3 (2025), Adventures Rulebook Version 1.2 (2022), and separate rulebooks for Unchained and Marvel Missions. For a rules dispute, use the rulebook for the product and edition being played. In particular, the campaign FAQ’s player-count and compatibility guidance is useful for understanding the product relationship, but it was last updated in 2019; the listed current rulebooks are the more appropriate reference when a precise rule matters.

Best Value
Dice Throne Box Game - Strategic Dice & Card Battler (Pale Lady)
  • HEROES CLASH IN HEAD-TO-HEAD DUELS: Don’t be fooled by the Pale Lady’s fragile appearance. She corners foes with cunning, then transforms into a savage Werewolf, making every roll a threat in fast-paced battles.
  • FAST-PACED TACTICAL COMBAT: Upgrade abilities, activate status effects, and unleash Ultimate attacks in this intense one-on-one strategy game built for speed, depth, and replay value.
  • PREMIUM COMPONENTS INSIDE: Includes 1 storage tray, 1 hero board, 1 token sheet, 1 leaflet, 1 combat points dial, 1 health dial, 5 hero-specific dice, 1 hero card pack, and 1 hero nameplate.
  • COMPATIBLE WITH ALL DICE THRONE HEROES: Outsmart and overpower foes with the cunning Pale Lady! All heroes are fully compatible across the Dice Throne series, so collecting more lets you expand battles to up to 6 players.
  • UNIQUE CHARACTERS: The Pale Lady manipulates and corners her opponents before transforming into a savage Werewolf, making every strike deadly.

The publisher’s 2026 update adds portfolio context: Dice Throne says it has shifted toward single-hero releases, that accessory packs are optional rather than required for the core game or expansions, and that Mythic cards are moving toward being specific to cooperative experiences such as Adventures and Missions rather than to individual heroes. This describes the company’s stated direction; it does not establish a product called Sagas or change the basic distinction between a Season’s hero content and Adventures’ campaign content.

For a purchase, check the exact product page, edition name, contents, and current stock. The official store is useful for confirming named products and its own listing status, but its snapshot does not establish availability at other retailers. Do not infer that a Season is required for Adventures merely because Adventures needs heroes: the FAQ says all versions are compatible, so the relevant requirement is access to enough heroes for the players.
