In Rainbow Six Siege, console players can enable crossplay from Options > General > Crossplay Matchmaking. Set it to On, then check the matchmaking pool selector if your version shows one. On PC, Ubisoft says crossplay is on by default.
Enable crossplay in Rainbow Six Siege
- From the game’s main menu on console, open Options.
- Select General.
- Find Crossplay Matchmaking and set it to On. Ubisoft says crossplay is off by default on consoles. Ubisoft Help’s Siege crossplay instructions describe this console setting.
- If your version also displays Crossplay & Input Devices, choose the pool that fits the platforms and input devices you want to use. The available choices and their effects are described below.
Ubisoft Help says crossplay is activated by default on PC and cannot be deactivated using the described setting. Xbox players may also change crossplay settings through the console. Menu labels can differ by game version, so use the options shown in your installed version and check Ubisoft support for the exact title and platform if you cannot find the setting.
What the Siege X matchmaking pools mean
Ubisoft’s July 10, 2026 article on native mouse-and-keyboard support describes these pool choices. They govern who can join a squad and which players are matched together; they are not simply a universal on/off switch.
| Choice | Who can be in the pool | Input devices |
|---|---|---|
| PC & Consoles | PC players and console players who selected this pool | Controller or mouse and keyboard |
| Consoles Crossplay | Players on consoles in the console crossplay pool | Controller only |
| PlayStation Only | PlayStation players | Not stated in Ubisoft’s cited pool description |
| Xbox Only | Xbox players | Not stated in Ubisoft’s cited pool description |
Ubisoft says that when a PC player joins a squad, the pool setting is locked to PC & Consoles. These pool details are from Ubisoft’s July 10, 2026 article on native mouse-and-keyboard support; the older Help instructions use different terminology, so not every version will necessarily show identical labels.

Crossplay is different from cross-progression
Crossplay lets you match and play with people on other supported platforms. Cross-progression carries saves and content between platforms. For Siege cross-progression, Ubisoft says to use the same Ubisoft account and link it to the platforms. Account linking does not turn on crossplay; Ubisoft also notes that some content may be shared after the game has been launched on both platforms. See Ubisoft’s explanation of Siege crossplay and cross-progression.
Other Ubisoft games use different controls
Do not assume the Siege menu path applies to another Ubisoft game. For example, Ubisoft’s article about The Division 2 says crossplay is enabled by default and can be disabled from the Character Selection screen. Check the current support information for your game because this example is specific to that title, not a catalog of every Ubisoft game.

If crossplay is on but you still cannot join a friend
The setting alone does not establish a fix for every invite or matchmaking problem. Ubisoft’s guidance varies by title and platform; consult the support page for the exact game and platform rather than assuming account linking or one console setting resolves the issue.
