To let friends into an existing Roblox private server, open the experience’s Servers section, select the three-dot menu next to your server, choose Configure, and allow your Roblox friends or add specific users. You can also create a server link there. If someone still cannot join, check both your server’s access list and the joining account’s privacy settings.
How do I let friends join my private server on Roblox?
- Open the experience page in the Roblox app or on the website.
- Scroll to Servers and find your private server.
- Select the three-dot Menu beside the server, then choose Configure.
- Set who can play: allow your friends list or add specific Roblox users. Roblox Support says owners can add up to 50 individual users.
- To share a server link instead, create one from the Configure page and send it to the intended friends.
These options are available only if the experience creator has enabled private servers. Roblox documents these controls in its Private / VIP Servers FAQ. Creating a new server may require a Robux purchase; that is separate from changing access to one you already own.
Choose the access method that fits

Why can’t my friend join my private server?
Access depends on both the server owner’s settings and the joining account’s Roblox controls. Error Code 524 can indicate a permission problem, but Roblox also lists temporary server unavailability and network or device glitches as possible causes.
Confirm the server allows that friend
In your server’s Configure page, make sure the friend is on the allowed-user list or that friends-list access is enabled. Roblox recommends checking the Server Members list or enabling Friends Allowed when troubleshooting Error Code 524. See Roblox’s Error Code 524 guidance.

Check the joining account’s privacy setting
The guest should open Settings > Privacy and content restrictions > Visibility & private servers > Private servers and review who can add them to a private server. The available choices can depend on account age and region. Roblox explains the setting in its account privacy and settings help.
Account age and parental controls can add limits
Roblox says that by default, users under 13 can join only friends’ private servers, and only their friends can join their own private servers. Privacy settings can restrict access further. A parent can review a child’s setting at Settings > Parental Controls > Settings you manage > Visibility & private servers > Private Servers; Roblox lists Friends or Off as choices. Rule out a temporary connection or server issue
If the permissions appear correct, try again later and have the friend check their connection and device. Roblox lists temporary server unavailability and network or device glitches among other possible explanations for Error Code 524.

The experience creator must enable private servers for the experience. If you do not see an option to create or manage a private server, check the experience’s page and Roblox’s private-server FAQ; you cannot turn the feature on for an experience as a player.
