If you can still access your account, open the Square Enix Account Management System and try signing in with the email address registered to the account. After you log in, Square Enix says your Square Enix ID should appear at the top of the page.
If you cannot log in, select Forgot your ID or password? beneath the Log In button and follow the recovery instructions.

Find your Square Enix ID if you can log in
- Open the official Square Enix Account Management System.
- Enter the registered email address in the ID field if you do not remember the Square Enix ID.
- Enter your password and complete any security-token or one-time-password prompt.
- After signing in, look at the top of the account page for your Square Enix ID.
The email address must belong to that specific Square Enix account and must match the registered capitalization. Square Enix states that its ID and email fields are case-sensitive. See its official login troubleshooting guidance.

Recover a forgotten Square Enix ID
If you have forgotten the ID, the password, or both:

- Go to the Square Enix Account Management System.
- Choose Forgot your ID or password? under Log In.
- Enter the requested account information.
- Check the registered email account for Square Enix’s automated recovery message.
- Follow the message’s instructions. Square Enix says the email may include your Square Enix ID and a confirmation code.
- Reset the password if prompted, then return to the account portal and sign in.
Square Enix also identifies this official password-recovery endpoint: https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/reminder. Before entering credentials, confirm that you are on an official square-enix.com domain.
If the recovery email does not arrive
- Re-enter the email address exactly as it was registered, including capitalization.
- Check spam, junk, promotions, and other filtered folders.
- Allow messages from
@account.square-enix.com. - Wait for a possible delivery delay before trying again.
- Try likely capitalization variants if the address may have been registered unusually.
- Make sure you are using the email for the correct Square Enix account, not a platform account name or another address.
- Avoid creating replacement accounts while trying to recover the existing one.
Square Enix lists delivery delays, filtering or blocked messages, and capitalization mismatches among possible causes. Its account-retrieval guidance provides additional recovery information.

If you no longer have access to the registered email
The normal automated recovery process depends on access to the registered email account. If you cannot access it, first try recovering that email account through its provider. You can also contact the Square Enix Support Center through Additional Assistance, as described in Square Enix’s email-access guidance.

Do not assume support will reveal the ID immediately. Assistance is intended for the actual account holder, and Square Enix may need to verify ownership. Do not create a new account as a substitute if you need access to an existing FINAL FANTASY XIV or FINAL FANTASY XI account.

Square Enix ID vs. game and platform IDs
Your Square Enix ID is the login identifier for your Square Enix account. It is not necessarily:
- Your in-game character name;
- Your FINAL FANTASY XIV character ID or Lodestone name;
- Your PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, or Nintendo account name; or
- Your FINAL FANTASY XI PlayOnline ID.
For FINAL FANTASY XI, the Square Enix account ID and PlayOnline ID are separate credentials in the game’s legacy account terminology. If a screen specifically asks for a PlayOnline ID, recovering the Square Enix ID may not solve that particular login problem. Refer to Square Enix’s FINAL FANTASY XI documentation for that distinction.

Fix “ID or password is incorrect”
Try these steps in order:
- Use the registered email address instead of the remembered Square Enix ID.
- Check the exact capitalization of the email address or ID.
- Use Forgot your ID or password? or the official password-reset page.
- Confirm that you are using the correct regional Square Enix account portal.
- Check the account-system news and maintenance page.
- Contact Square Enix Support if the error continues.
If your account uses a security token, you may need a current one-time password. Square Enix says a rejected code can result from entering it too late or from the token being out of sync; generating a new code may help.
A login restriction can also block authentication after unusual activity. Square Enix gives examples such as signing in from a different device or IP address, not logging in for a long period, or using connected services through a VPN. Instructions for lifting a restriction are sent to the registered email address, and a password reset may be required.

Can you change a Square Enix ID?
No. Square Enix states that the Square Enix ID cannot be changed after the account is created. The registered email address, password, and some other account details have separate update procedures; changing those does not change the ID. See Square Enix’s account-information guidance.
