If no update appears, the wheel may already be current.
Which Logitech wheels does this cover?
This guide applies primarily to the G29 Driving Force, G920 Driving Force, and both PlayStation/PC and Xbox/PC versions of the G923. It may also apply to newer Logitech G-series racing wheels supported by G HUB.

Identify the exact model from the label on the wheel base, its packaging, or the device name shown in G HUB. The G29 is the PlayStation/PC model, while the G920 is the Xbox/PC model. G923 versions are also platform-specific, so do not use firmware intended for another wheel or console variant.

Firmware update or G HUB update?
- G HUB update: Updates Logitech’s Windows/macOS management application.
- Wheel firmware update: Updates software stored in the wheel base or related hardware.
- Driver recognition: Windows can recognize the wheel without a separate traditional driver package.
- Game update: A racing game may need its own update or controller configuration even when the wheel firmware is current.
Installing the newest G HUB version does not necessarily change the wheel’s firmware. G HUB offers a wheel update only when Logitech has published compatible firmware for that product.

Before you start
- Use a Windows PC where possible, particularly for older G29 and G920 troubleshooting.
- Download G HUB from Logitech’s official support page.
- Connect the correct power adapter to the wheel base and a stable wall outlet.
- Connect the pedals to the wheel base.
- Plug the wheel directly into a motherboard USB port. Avoid hubs, docks, monitor USB ports, and extension cables.
- Close games, Steam Input where it conflicts, controller-mapping utilities, and emulators such as DS4Windows, DualSenseX, x360ce, and reWASD.
- Ensure you have permission to install or update G HUB.
- Do not begin during a laptop battery warning, unstable power condition, or pending system restart.
How to update a Logitech G29, G920, or G923
- Identify the wheel. Confirm whether you have a G29, G920, G923 PlayStation/PC, G923 Xbox/PC, or another supported model.
- Connect the hardware. Plug in the pedals and power adapter, then connect the USB cable directly to the PC. Wait for the wheel to perform its normal startup calibration. If it does not calibrate or Windows cannot see it, fix the connection first.
- Install or update G HUB. Use Logitech’s current G HUB download page. Logitech currently exposes an installer at this official download URL.
- Open G HUB. Go to My Gear and select the detected wheel. The exact labels and layout can change between G HUB versions.
- Install the offered firmware. If G HUB displays a firmware or device-update notification, follow the on-screen instructions for that wheel.
- Keep everything connected. Do not unplug the USB cable, remove power, close G HUB, or shut down the computer while the update is active.
- Restart and test. When G HUB reports completion, reopen the application and confirm that the wheel appears normally.
Firmware availability is product-specific. Logitech’s release page has listed firmware for individual products, including a G29 firmware version 164.1.11 and G HUB version 2026.1.829723, with a February 3, 2026 release date visible on that page. These are page-specific listings, not a requirement that every G29 or every Logitech wheel display the same version.
How to confirm the update worked
Check all of the following:
- The wheel appears normally in G HUB with no pending update notification.
- The wheel performs its normal startup calibration.
- Steering input moves smoothly through its expected range.
- The accelerator, brake, and clutch respond correctly.
- Buttons, paddles, and other controls register.
- Force feedback works in a supported game.
- The game is using the correct wheel profile, platform mode, rotation range, and force-feedback settings.
For a basic Windows check, open the game-controller panel and inspect the wheel’s input response. Logitech’s compatibility list can help determine whether a game supports your exact wheel and platform. Compatibility and TRUEFORCE features vary.
If G HUB does not detect the wheel
- Check that the power adapter is connected to both the wheel base and wall outlet.
- Confirm the pedals are connected to the wheel base, not directly to the PC.
- Move the USB cable to another motherboard USB port.
- Remove hubs, docks, front-panel extensions, and monitor USB passthrough from the connection.
- Restart Windows with the wheel disconnected, then reconnect it after Windows loads.
- Close controller-emulation software, including DS4Windows, DualSenseX, x360ce, reWASD, and similar utilities. Logitech identifies these programs as possible causes of G29/G920 detection problems.
- Repair or reinstall G HUB from Logitech’s official support page.
- Check whether the wheel appears in Windows’ game-controller panel.
- Try another computer if available.
- Contact Logitech support if the wheel remains absent.
Do not assume that detection failure means the firmware is outdated. Power, USB connections, software conflicts, and hardware faults are common alternatives.

If G HUB shows no firmware update
This normally means one of three things: the installed firmware is current, Logitech has not released a newer package for that exact model, or G HUB is not fully recognizing the device. Do not force an update with a manually sourced firmware file. Logitech’s current G HUB release information shows that firmware releases are product-specific.
If the update freezes or fails
Do not immediately unplug the wheel while the progress indicator is still active. Give G HUB time to respond and check whether the process completes.
If G HUB is clearly unresponsive, close it and restart the computer. Reconnect the wheel directly to a different motherboard USB port, reopen G HUB, and check whether the wheel is detected and calibrates normally. Do not run multiple updater tools or repeatedly retry with an unofficial firmware package.

The firmware may not be the problem. Check the game’s support for your exact G29, G920, or G923 variant, then review:
- PlayStation, Xbox, or PC mode
- The game’s wheel profile
- Steam Input or other controller remapping
- Duplicate button and axis bindings
- Force-feedback enablement
- Steering rotation, sensitivity, and dead-zone settings
Logitech notes that game support varies by model and platform. The company’s current Steam troubleshooting guidance also means that older advice based on Steam detecting wheels in a particular way may no longer apply.

If steering or pedals are miscalibrated
First reconnect the pedals and inspect the inputs in Windows Controller Properties. Recalibrate only after confirming that Windows and G HUB detect the hardware correctly.
Registry repair is advanced troubleshooting, not a normal firmware-update step. Logitech provides separate Registry guidance for G923 Xbox, G923 PlayStation, G29, and G920 devices. Back up the Registry and use that procedure only when Logitech’s instructions specifically match your model. Do not edit the Registry simply because G HUB has no update button.
Should you use Logitech’s old Firmware Update Tool?
No, not as a current update method. Logitech says its standalone Firmware Update Tool is no longer supported or maintained. Old copies may be incompatible with current Windows versions, may not support newer products, and may be unsafe when downloaded from unofficial sites. Use G HUB or Logitech support instead.

Logi Options+ should not be treated as the racing-wheel firmware updater unless Logitech specifically directs you to do so for your model. The current evidence supports G HUB for Logitech gaming wheels.
Windows versus console updates
A PlayStation or Xbox may use the wheel after it has been updated, but the firmware procedure generally requires a computer-based Logitech utility. Do not assume that a console can install G HUB firmware. If you do not have a compatible PC, use another Windows computer where possible or contact Logitech support or an authorized service provider.
When to contact Logitech
Contact Logitech when the wheel is not detected on multiple computers, no longer performs startup calibration, disappears after an update, or has a potentially damaged power adapter, USB cable, or wheel base. Warranty and support options vary by region; Logitech provides regional information through its warranty FAQ.
