Pokémon’s official material does not explain how Kangaskhan conceives or gives birth. It establishes that Kangaskhan is a female “Parent Pokémon” that protects its child in a pouch, but leaves the reproductive process unspecified. The games’ breeding categories are gameplay mechanics, not a complete account of Kangaskhan biology.
What Pokémon canon says about Kangaskhan and its child
The official Pokédex entry for Kangaskhan identifies it as female and calls it the “Parent Pokémon.” It says, “Kangaskhan protects its child by keeping it in its pouch.” That establishes pouch-based care, but the entry does not describe mating, conception, gestation, or birth.

Does the baby hatch with Kangaskhan?
The cited official material does not say whether a Kangaskhan hatches already carrying a baby. It also does not explain where the pouch child comes from. Without an explicit canon account, claims about the baby’s origin should be treated as speculation rather than established Pokémon lore.

A game-reference entry lists Kangaskhan as female and in the Monster Egg Group. That classification concerns the games’ breeding system. It does not explain the species’ in-world reproductive biology or resolve how the child in the pouch originates.

Mega Kangaskhan is not an explanation of normal reproduction
The official Mega Kangaskhan Pokédex entry says, “The explosive energy the child is bathed in causes temporary growth.” This describes a change associated with Mega Evolution, not how Kangaskhan ordinarily reproduces or how its child is born.

The official entries cited here do not specify whether Kangaskhan lays eggs or gives live birth, how long pregnancy or development lasts, or why depictions show an adult already carrying a child. That is an unresolved point in the cited material—not evidence that Kangaskhan has no reproductive process.
