How do I transfer No Man’s Sky saves from PS4 to PS5?

- On PS5: Sign in to the same PlayStation Network account, launch the PS5 version of No Man’s Sky, and use its cross-save controls to download the uploaded save.

Do I need the same PSN account to move my save?
Yes. Hello Games says a PSN account can transfer saves between a PS4 and PS5 logged into that same account. Its FAQ says connecting only one platform account is enough for this PS4-to-PS5 path. The feature was announced in update 5.25 in November 2024, initially with a limited beta rollout; the current FAQ describes the transfer capability, but does not specify current eligibility details for every account.

Hello Games’ documented method is the game’s online upload and download through Hello Games Cloud. The official instructions cited here do not state that PlayStation Plus, a USB drive, a new game purchase, or an accessory is required for the transfer. They also do not establish a USB-based procedure for No Man’s Sky, so use the in-game cloud method rather than assuming a general console migration or USB workflow will move this save.

Protect the original save before changing accounts
Keep the PS4 copy until the save has loaded successfully on PS5. Hello Games warns that server-held save data may be deleted if cross-save is disabled or removed, a Hello User ID is deleted, or external platform accounts are disconnected. Avoid those changes until you have verified the destination save.
