In Destiny 1, the historical ways to earn Legendary Marks were the Daily Featured Story, Daily Featured PvP, Heroic Strikes, Weekly Featured PvP, dismantling Year 2 Legendary gear, and certain quests. The activity limits and 200-mark cap below come from Bungie help text reproduced in a 2015 Bungie forum post, not a currently verified reward schedule.

These are historical categories and account limits, not confirmation that each activity currently pays a particular amount. Check the reward preview in your game version before spending time on an activity. What is the Legendary Marks cap?
The Bungie help text reproduced in that 2015 forum post states an inventory limit of 200 Legendary Marks. The original help article could not be accessed, so treat this as a historical figure rather than a newly confirmed current cap. Bungie forum post.

Are those activities still available?
Bungie says Destiny 1 will receive no planned game updates or content. Its legacy-support page says content through Rise of Iron remains available on PS4 and Xbox One, although access to some activities is limited. Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and other live events are no longer available, so they should not be treated as current earning routes. PS3 and Xbox 360 players are directed to separate legacy-console information. Bungie’s Destiny server and update status.
The Weekly Story Playlist may appear in the Director’s Featured Activities pane, but Bungie’s current support page does not promise Legendary Marks as its reward. Confirm the in-game reward preview rather than assuming a visible playlist still awards the currency.

As historical context, an archived September 20, 2016 Rise of Iron patch note says vendor items purchased with Legendary Marks were increased to 350 Light.
