The mechanic varies by game, though. Black Ops 7 describes Wall Jumps between vertical surfaces, while Modern Warfare III covers standard jumping and mantling—not wall-running.
How wall-running works in Black Ops III
Activision describes Black Ops III as using a “chain-based fluid movement system” that includes wall-running, thrust jumps, power slides, swimming, and fast mantling. Wall-running is one part of that broader movement system, rather than ordinary walking on a wall. The official description establishes that wall-running is a feature, but it does not give button-by-button instructions. To check the input for your setup, consult the in-game controls or the manual for your specific platform; do not assume one universal button combination applies to every platform or control scheme.
Black Ops 7 has Wall Jump, not the same mechanic
Black Ops 7 calls its movement feature the “all-new Wall Jump mechanic.” Activision says players can propel between vertical surfaces and chain up to three Wall Jumps, with momentum reduced on each jump. What about Modern Warfare III?
The official Modern Warfare III movement guide discusses walking, sprinting, jumping, and mantling. It explains ordinary ways to cross gaps or reach higher areas; it does not establish a wall-running feature. How to tell which wall movement applies
- Check the title: Wall-running is specifically described for Black Ops III; Black Ops 7 describes Wall Jump.
- Check the mode and map: A movement feature does not establish that every map or route supports it. The official descriptions cited here do not provide a map-by-map list of wall-run routes.
- Check your platform’s controls: Look in that game’s control settings or manual for the exact input. The official pages cited here do not specify a wall-run button sequence.
- Distinguish the action: Traveling along a wall is wall-running; propelling from one vertical surface to another is Wall Jump.
