Historically, Mario Kart Tour ranked players by their high scores in certain races: Nintendo says those scores determined a player’s rank and league on a worldwide leaderboard. The game’s service ended on September 29, 2026, so players can no longer enter cups or improve a live rank. Nintendo’s announced record-viewing periods may still allow access to past results.
How the cup and league ranking worked
Nintendo’s official Mario Kart Tour game description says high scores in certain races determined a player’s rank and league on a worldwide leaderboard. It also encouraged players to try different combinations of drivers, karts, and gliders.
Nintendo’s description does not publish the exact scoring formula, score or league thresholds, or rules for promotion and demotion. Those details should not be treated as verified, and an undated guide cannot establish how the final version calculated them. The official wording supports the high-level point: scores from selected races determined cup/league ranking.
Was multiplayer part of the ranking?
Nintendo described real-time multiplayer separately from cup and league ranking. Its support page says players could take part in Standard Races, whose rules changed daily, and Gold Races for Gold Pass subscribers. The page does not say those multiplayer results counted toward cup or league rank, so the available official information does not establish a connection between the two systems.

Can you still change your rank?
No. Nintendo Support says Mario Kart Tour service ended at 11:00 p.m. PT on September 29, 2026. Nintendo’s Japan notice gives the same end instant as September 30, 2026 at 15:00 Japan time. Cups and live rankings are no longer available for competition.

Nintendo’s support page Getting More Help With Mario Kart Tour directs players to the in-app guide and FAQ. It does not preserve a detailed ranking formula.
