The amount assigned to each game depends on its registration rank: the most-registered featured game receives $100,000, while the lowest-ranked games receive $20,000 each. Within each game, the top eight finishers divide that game’s pool according to a fixed percentage schedule. That means there is no single first-place prize for every game, and the 2026 USA formula should not be treated as a permanent rule for every Evo event or year.
How Evo 2026 USA sets its featured-game prize pools
Evo’s official 2026 USA event page publishes a $500,000 total prize pool for its twelve featured games. It assigns each game’s pool according to that game’s total registration count, ranked from highest to lowest. Registration rank—not a single equal share for every title—determines which amount applies.

The published amounts add up to the stated total: $100,000 + $70,000 + $60,000, three pools of $40,000, two pools of $30,000, two pools of $25,000, and two pools of $20,000 equals $500,000. The rank labels below describe positions in the registration order; the official schedule does not identify a specific game in each position here.
| Featured-game registration rank | Pool assigned to that game |
|---|---|
| 1st | $100,000 |
| 2nd | $70,000 |
| 3rd | $60,000 |
| 4th–6th | $40,000 each |
| 7th–8th | $30,000 each |
| 9th–10th | $25,000 each |
| 11th–12th | $20,000 each |
This is a rank-based allocation. A game in the first registration position receives a pool five times the amount assigned to a game in either of the last two positions. The placement percentages are the same across the featured-game pools, but the resulting cash awards differ because the starting pool differs.

For practical comparisons, keep the total and the individual-game amount separate. The $500,000 figure is the combined pool for the featured lineup, not the amount available in every game’s bracket and not a sum divided equally among all twelve games. A game’s registration rank selects its starting amount; the placement schedule then divides that amount among its top eight finishers.
How the payout split works
For each featured game, Evo’s 2026 schedule assigns the entire game pool to the top eight finishers. There are two players in fifth place and two in seventh place in the payout schedule, so it accounts for eight paid competitors in total.
| Final placement | Share of that game’s pool |
|---|---|
| 1st | 40% |
| 2nd | 20% |
| 3rd | 15% |
| 4th | 10% |
| 5th (two competitors) | 6% each |
| 7th (two competitors) | 1.5% each |
The percentages add to 100%: 40 + 20 + 15 + 10 + 6 + 6 + 1.5 + 1.5. In other words, the schedule is not a first-place award plus smaller prizes drawn from an unspecified extra fund; the listed shares distribute the full pool.
What those percentages mean in dollars
For a $100,000 game pool, multiplying each share by the pool gives $40,000 for first, $20,000 for second, $15,000 for third, and $10,000 for fourth. Each fifth-place finisher receives $6,000, and each seventh-place finisher receives $1,500. These are arithmetic calculations from Evo’s published 2026 percentages and the $100,000 pool, not separate reported match results.
At the other end of the schedule, a $20,000 game pool produces $8,000 for first, $4,000 for second, $3,000 for third, and $2,000 for fourth. Each fifth-place finisher receives $1,200, and each seventh-place finisher receives $300. Thus, “How much does Evo pay for first place?” has no single answer for the featured 2026 USA lineup: first place is worth 40% of the pool assigned to that competitor’s game.

- WINDEX GAMING WIPES: effortlessly clean all your gaming gear and gaming electronics in one easy step with our new Windex Gaming Wipes
- AMMONIA FREE: our ammonia-free formula is safe to use on all of your favorite gaming equipment like consoles, headsets, controllers, screens, keyboards, and more
- PRE-MOISTENED WIPES: each wipe instantly removes dust, dirt, and stubborn smudges and fingerprints leaving a streak-free shine
- ANTI-STATIC: great for cleaning and wiping down your gaming gear and electronics leaving behind no visible residue
- COMPACT RESEALABLE PACKAGE: store your pack of Windex Gaming Wipes anywhere in your home for whenever a quick and easy wipedown is needed
The difference is easy to see at the two ends of the allocation. First place in the $100,000 pool calculates to $40,000, while first place in a $20,000 pool calculates to $8,000. The percentage is unchanged; only the underlying game pool changes. For a game assigned $30,000, for instance, first place would calculate to $12,000 and a fifth-place share to $1,800. These are illustrations using the published formula, not reported final prizes for named games.
How to work out a payout for a particular game
To estimate a scheduled award, first establish that the tournament is one of the featured Evo 2026 USA games, then find its registration rank and assigned pool. Multiply that pool by the percentage for the final placement. For example, if a featured game ranks seventh or eighth, the published pool is $30,000; a first-place share is 40% of that amount, or $12,000. This is a calculation from the schedule, not a claim about which game placed at that rank.

- Confirm the event and tournament category. Use the specific event page for the year and location; do not assume a featured-game schedule also applies to an extended bracket.
- Find the game’s registration rank. The 2026 USA schedule orders featured games by total registrations, descending.
- Read the pool assigned to that rank. Use the rank table rather than assuming all games receive the headline total divided equally.
- Apply the placement percentage. Multiply the game pool by 0.40 for first, 0.20 for second, 0.15 for third, 0.10 for fourth, 0.06 for either fifth-place finisher, or 0.015 for either seventh-place finisher.
This calculation gives the published gross award implied by the schedule. The official materials cited here do not state when payment arrives, how taxes are handled, whether transaction fees apply, or what paperwork a player must submit. A player needing those details should consult the applicable event’s official terms rather than infer them from a prize-pool table.
Featured and extended tournaments are not interchangeable
“Evo prize pool” can refer to different arrangements. Evo’s official 2025 USA FAQ described a $30,000 minimum guaranteed pool for featured tournaments and separately said that extended-tournament finalists shared the selected game’s bracket-entry total. The 2025 FAQ also stated that prize money was split among the top eight finalists in each tournament. Those are descriptions of that year’s USA event; they are not the 2026 registration-rank schedule.
The 2026 USA event page publishes the featured-game allocation and payout schedule described above. It does not establish that every side event uses the same pool-setting method or that the same arrangement applies to every Evo-branded event worldwide. Before comparing amounts, identify the event year and location, whether the bracket is featured or extended, how its pool is determined, and which placement shares apply. A total detached from those details can make unlike tournaments look comparable when they are not.

The 2025 and 2026 figures therefore should not be collapsed into a single “Evo standard.” In the 2025 description, a featured tournament had a stated minimum guarantee, while extended-tournament prizing was tied to that selected game’s bracket-entry total. The 2026 featured schedule instead gives different fixed amounts according to registration rank. These are different pool-setting methods as well as different event-year terms.

How tournament results determine placement
The payout schedule begins with final placement, which competitors reach through the tournament bracket. Evo’s official rules say most tournament sets are best two out of three games. Sets determining the top three placements—Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals—are best three out of five. The rules describe progression through pools and then a double-elimination semifinal bracket; finalists receive medals and tournament prizing according to their ultimate placement.
Those match formats explain the route to a paid finish, but they do not change the percentages. A best-of-five final still awards the published share for its resulting placement; the schedule is tied to placement, not to how many games a competitor wins in a set.
Why entrant counts and prize-pool ranks need context
Registration count matters directly to the 2026 featured-game allocation because it determines the order in which game pools are assigned. But counts reported in Evo history can measure different things. Evo’s official history page reports that the 2024 event had 16,252 bracket entries across 10,240 individual players, alongside more than 5,000 Street Fighter 6 competitors. Entries are not the same as unique people: one player can register for multiple games.
The same distinction matters when reading older attendance milestones. Evo’s history account says Street Fighter IV exceeded 1,800 competitors in 2010 and that the game’s success helped secure a guaranteed $20,000 pool. For 2023, Evo reports 7,083 Street Fighter 6 competitors and 9,182 unique entrants. These historical figures help illustrate the scale and growth of participation, but they are not the 2026 featured-game rank list and should not be substituted for it.

When comparing participation figures, check what each number counts: players in one game’s bracket, entries across multiple brackets, or unique individuals at the event. Evo’s 2024 history figures make the distinction explicit, with more bracket entries than individual players. The entry total and player total answer different questions, so neither should be presented as if it were the other.
Why the year changes the answer
Prize-pool figures are event-specific, not a standing promise that every Evo tournament will use the same formula. The contrast between the 2025 and 2026 USA event descriptions is concrete: the 2025 FAQ described a featured-tournament minimum guarantee and a separate entry-total pool for extended tournaments, while the 2026 page publishes a $500,000 featured-game total allocated by registration rank. Those descriptions answer different questions and should not be merged into one rule.
The 2026 figures discussed here are for Evo USA’s featured games. They do not prove that Evo Japan, Evo France, Evo Singapore, other locations, or future years use the same total, registration allocation, or payout percentages. For a current event, the relevant year-and-location event page is the authority for its published terms.

The schedule establishes the total featured-game pool, the relationship between registration rank and each game’s allocation, and the shares assigned to placements through seventh place. Combined with an official final result, those figures are enough to calculate the scheduled gross prize for a top-eight placement.

Conclusion
For Evo 2026 USA featured tournaments, start with the game’s registration rank to identify its pool, then apply the published placement percentage. The result is a shared top-eight payout, not one universal first-place prize. Always keep the year, location, and featured-versus-extended category attached to any Evo prize figure.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do EVO prize pools work?
For the featured Evo 2026 USA games, the total pool is $500,000. The game’s total-registration rank determines its assigned pool, and that pool is divided among the top eight using the published placement percentages.
How much does EVO pay for first place?
There is no single first-place amount for every featured game in the 2026 USA schedule. First place receives 40% of that game’s pool: for example, $40,000 from a $100,000 pool or $8,000 from a $20,000 pool.
Does every game at EVO have the same prize pool?
No. In the 2026 USA featured lineup, the assigned amounts range from $100,000 for the highest registration rank to $20,000 for each of the two lowest ranks. Other years, extended tournaments, or regional events may have different terms.
How are EVO payouts split?
The 2026 featured-game schedule pays 40% to first, 20% to second, 15% to third, 10% to fourth, 6% to each of two fifth-place finishers, and 1.5% to each of two seventh-place finishers. Those shares total 100% of the game pool.
When does EVO pay prize money, and how are taxes handled?
The cited official event materials do not specify payout timing, tax handling, transaction fees, or required player paperwork. Competitors should check the official terms for their specific event.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: In Evo 2026 USA featured tournaments, registration rank sets each game’s pool and final placement determines the share. Check the exact year, location, and tournament category before comparing Evo prize figures.
