Jam Stage, the Lobby and Battle Royale use Jam Tracks differently. Epic’s mode guide lists no Pro Lead or Pro Bass performance parts outside Main Stage, so those experiences should not be treated as alternate guitar-controller modes.

What a guitar controller does in Fortnite Festival
Fortnite Festival separates ordinary instrument parts from its guitar-oriented Pro parts. When Fortnite detects a supported guitar controller, Main Stage can offer Pro Lead and Pro Bass alongside Lead, Bass, Drums and Vocals. Epic describes those Pro parts as available for current and future Jam Tracks on Main Stage. See Epic’s explanation of Pro Lead and Pro Bass for the official feature description.

- MULTI-PLATFORM COMPATIBILITY: Compatible with PC, PC handhelds, Nintendo Switch 1|2, Android devices, including Smart TVs, tablets, mobile devices, and cloud streaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Luna.
- KEYJAM MODE: (Mode 9) transforms the guitar controller into a keyboard and mouse, enabling seamless compatibility with Fortnite Festival on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Powered by CRKD’s KEYJAM Mapping feature, the fret buttons, strum bar, and other inputs are mapped to keyboard controls, while the right thumbstick functions as a mouse for intuitive menu navigation. KEYJAM Mode offers a seamless, plug-and-play experience — making everything from song selection to rocking out smooth, fast, and effortless.
- PREMIUM FRETS & STRUM BAR - Mechanical Frets offer a superior playing experience providing unmatched precision and responsiveness. Hall effect strum bar allows you to customize your actuation point while guaranteeing a long lifespan. Also featuring haptic feedback to give you a tactile feel with each strum.
- MODULAR DESIGN: The modular design allows you to swap out your neck to match your perfect feel. Swap it out for the solo neck design featuring 5 additional solo frets or opt for the classic standard buttons.
- EASY NAVIGATION: Two integrated analog sticks, an ergonomic D-pad on the headstock, and an eight-button navigation hub for easy in-game menu navigation.
- Green, Red, Yellow, Blue and Orange fret inputs.
- Strumming to trigger the notes moving through the chart.
- Hammer-on and pull-off notes, which Epic says are used in place of Lift Notes for these Pro parts.
Colored notes can be toggled, and the scoreboards include listings for Pro scores. Difficulty still varies by song and instrument, so a Pro chart is not a fixed challenge level across every Jam Track.
Epic also states that “Guitar controllers can also be used with non-pro parts, such as vocals.” That means connecting a guitar does not force you to play only Lead or Bass; the controller can remain useful when a setlist includes a non-Pro assignment.
Where guitar-controller play is supported
The important distinction is between performing a Jam Track and merely using a Jam Track as background or cosmetic music. Epic’s descriptions assign the guitar-specific Pro parts to Main Stage.

| Fortnite experience | Jam Track function described by Epic | Guitar-controller implication |
|---|---|---|
| Festival Main Stage | Players add Jam Tracks to a setlist and choose Lead, Drum, Vocals, Bass, Pro Lead or Pro Bass. | Pro Lead and Pro Bass are the guitar-oriented parts. Epic says a guitar controller is required for those Pro parts. |
| Festival Jam Stage | Jam Tracks provide Lead, Drum, Vocals and Bass loops. Players can switch instruments and combine loops with other players. | Epic lists no Pro Lead or Pro Bass options here. |
| Battle Royale | An equipped Jam Track can play as Intro Music or Celebration music. | This is music playback, not a listed guitar performance part. |
| Lobby | An equipped Jam Track can play as Lobby Music. | This is music playback, not a listed guitar performance part. |
For the complete Jam Track mode breakdown, consult Epic’s “What are Jam Tracks in Fortnite?” guide. The absence of Pro parts in the Jam Stage, Lobby and Battle Royale descriptions does not mean those modes are broken; they serve different purposes.
How to start a Pro Lead or Pro Bass performance
Use Main Stage when you want the full guitar-controller chart. Epic’s Main Stage setup guide lists six selectable instruments: Lead, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Pro Lead and Pro Bass. A controller must be connected and recognized as a supported guitar before the Pro choices are available.

- WIRELESS CONNECTION - Bluetooth allows for wireless pairing to your Nintendo Switch OLED, PC, Mobile, Smart TV, Steam Deck OLED, Legion Go, or Rog Ally with the ability to seamlessly switch between them.
- HALL EFFECT THUMBSTICKS - Hall Effect sensor thumbsticks means no stick drift while guaranteeing precise & responsive control.
- RE-MAPPABLE BACK BUTTONS - Re-mappable back buttons allow you to bind a single input or a series of inputs adding speed & versatility to your gaming.
- ADJUSTABLE TRIGGER SENSITIVITY - Hall Effect sensor triggers allow you to fine tune the actuation point of your triggers to achieve your perfect feel.
- Connect the guitar controller before entering the performance setup. Use the connection method intended for your exact controller and platform. Epic’s public guides do not provide a universal adapter or model list, so do not assume that every legacy rhythm-game guitar will be recognized.
- Open Fortnite Festival Main Stage. Do not begin in Jam Stage if your goal is a Pro chart; Jam Stage’s documented parts are Lead, Drum, Vocals and Bass loops.
- Select a Jam Track and open the instrument choices. Choose Pro Lead for the lead-guitar chart or Pro Bass for the bass chart.
- Choose the song’s available difficulty. Epic notes that difficulty can vary by song and instrument, so check the selection for the specific track rather than assuming Pro Lead and Pro Bass share one universal setting.
- Play the chart with frets and strum. Match the colored lane to the corresponding fret input, then strum as the note reaches the target. Watch for hammer-on and pull-off patterns because their behavior differs from Lift Notes.
- Review the appropriate scoreboard. Pro scores have their own scoreboard listings, allowing performance on a Pro part to be distinguished from scores on ordinary parts.
These steps describe the in-game path Epic documents; button names outside the instrument-selection screen can vary with platform and controller firmware.
“I can’t see the Pro Lead or Pro Bass options”: fix the visibility problem
Epic says the Pro choices should appear automatically when a supported guitar controller is connected. If they do not, use the documented display setting rather than concluding immediately that the game has removed the feature.

- Open Settings.
- Go to Game > Festival.
- Turn on Always Display Pro Parts.
- Apply the change and return to the Main Stage instrument selector.
Those instructions come from Epic’s troubleshooting article for missing Pro Lead and Pro Bass options. The setting controls whether the choices are shown; Epic does not say that enabling it makes an unsupported device compatible.
What to check if the setting does not solve it
- Mode: Confirm that you are in Festival Main Stage, not Jam Stage, the Lobby or Battle Royale.
- Connection: Reconnect the controller using its intended wired, wireless or adapter setup, then reopen the instrument selector.
- Recognition: Treat “supported” as a requirement. A controller can power on and still fail to register as a supported guitar input.
- Model details: Record the exact model and revision, the platform, and whether an adapter is involved before seeking platform-specific support.
- Visibility: Verify that Always Display Pro Parts remains enabled after applying the setting.
Epic’s cited help pages do not provide a model-by-model compatibility matrix, so a missing option cannot be diagnosed reliably from the controller’s brand name alone.
How the Pro chart differs from ordinary Festival parts
Ordinary Festival parts are designed around the game’s standard controller inputs. Pro Lead and Pro Bass instead map the chart to a five-fret guitar layout and a strum action. That changes what you need to watch during a song:

- PERFECT FOR TWO-PLAYER GAMING – The dual guitar controller bundle is ideal for band mode, multiplayer competitions, parties, and expanding your existing Guitar Hero setup.
- Lane recognition: Learn the five colors—Green, Red, Yellow, Blue and Orange—and keep your fretting hand oriented consistently.
- Strum timing: A correct fret without the required strum will not behave like a completed guitar note.
- Hammer-ons and pull-offs: These note types replace Lift Notes in the Pro parts, so a technique familiar from another rhythm game should not be assumed to map identically.
- Part-specific charts: Pro Lead and Pro Bass are separate selections. A bass chart is not merely the lead chart played at a lower register.
- Scoring context: Compare your result with the Pro scoreboard for the same part rather than with scores from standard Lead or Bass.
Epic’s documentation explains the input categories and note behavior, but it does not publish a universal note-per-second target, calibration value or performance statistic. Any timing or difficulty expectation should therefore be based on the individual song’s chart.

Buying or choosing a controller without overpromising compatibility
The official Fortnite Festival pages confirm the category—supported guitar controller—but do not name exact guitar models, revisions, platforms or adapters. They also do not state which older Rock Band or Guitar Hero peripherals work. Compatibility can change with the console or PC connection method, so a product listing that merely says “guitar controller” is not enough evidence.
Use this verification checklist
- Platform: Confirm the controller is intended for your PlayStation, Xbox, Switch or PC setup before purchase.
- Exact model and revision: Write down the complete model designation, not just the product family.
- Connection method: Check whether it is wired or wireless and whether a receiver, adapter or other accessory is required.
- Official Festival confirmation: Look for current Fortnite Festival support for that exact model and platform.
- Return policy: Prefer a seller or retailer with a clear return process when compatibility has not been independently confirmed.
A safe search phrase is “Fortnite Festival guitar controller”, but treat search results as leads, not proof. Verify the model, platform, connection method and current support information before paying. Do not infer compatibility from the presence of five fret buttons or from the fact that a controller works in another rhythm game.

Looking for Pro parts in Jam Stage
Jam Stage is built around loops and collaborative switching. Its documented instrument list stops at Lead, Drum, Vocals and Bass, so the lack of Pro Lead or Pro Bass there is expected.
Assuming a Lobby or Battle Royale Jam Track is playable
Equipping a track as Lobby Music, Intro Music or Celebration music changes when the audio plays; it does not create a selectable guitar performance chart.

Expecting every guitar to work because it has fret buttons
Epic repeatedly qualifies the feature with “supported.” The cited pages do not identify a universal hardware standard or promise support for legacy peripherals.
Turning on the display option and expecting hardware support
Always Display Pro Parts changes visibility in the Festival settings. It does not, according to Epic’s troubleshooting guidance, convert an unrecognized controller into a supported one.
Comparing unlike scoreboards
Pro Lead and Pro Bass have Pro score listings. Compare like with like—same song, same part and the same difficulty—before judging a performance.
Quick decision guide
- You want to strum a five-fret chart: Use Festival Main Stage, connect a supported guitar controller and select Pro Lead or Pro Bass.
- You want to accompany friends with loops: Use Jam Stage, where Epic lists Lead, Drum, Vocals and Bass loops rather than the Pro parts.
- You only want music in the background: Equip a Jam Track in the Lobby or use it as Intro or Celebration music in Battle Royale.
- The Pro choices are hidden: In Main Stage, enable Game > Festival > Always Display Pro Parts, then apply the change.
- You are shopping: Verify the exact model, revision, platform, connection method and current official support; the cited Epic pages do not provide a complete compatibility list.
The practical answer
Guitar controllers matter in Fortnite Festival primarily because they unlock the Main Stage’s Pro Lead and Pro Bass parts. The gameplay uses five colored frets, strumming and Pro-specific hammer-on and pull-off notes, while the controller can still be assigned to non-Pro parts such as vocals. Jam Stage, the Lobby and Battle Royale expose Jam Tracks in other formats and are not documented as offering those Pro guitar charts.
