As of October 8, 2026, Clash Royale has been a game for 10 years, 7 months, and 6 days, counting from its March 2, 2016 anniversary date. Supercell’s anniversary announcement also identifies January 4, 2016 as an earlier soft-launch milestone.
When did Clash Royale come out?
Supercell’s March 1, 2018 announcement said, “Tomorrow, Friday March 2nd, Clash Royale turns 2 years young!” That places the anniversary date at March 2, 2016. By that convention, the game reached its 10th anniversary on March 2, 2026.
The same post names January 4, 2016 as the soft-launch date for the cards featured in its Retro Royale event. That is an earlier milestone, not the anniversary date used for the age calculation above. Different timelines can therefore show different dates depending on whether they count the soft launch or the anniversary.

What kind of game is Clash Royale?
Supercell describes Clash Royale as a real-time multiplayer game built around collecting and upgrading cards and battling in an Arena. It is a digital mobile game, rather than a physical card game. The official game page describes its format, while the Apple App Store listing presents it as an app with in-app purchases.
