Return to your save and find Tanuki
If you have reached home, load the existing save and look for Tanuki to access the Picture Purrfect content. Double Dagger Studio’s press kit states that the additions fit into the existing story and that returning players can access them on an established save. Double Dagger Studio announced the free Picture Purrfect Update for August 27, 2025. It adds areas and characters and expands photo mode; the studio’s press kit says the content is woven into the existing story and can be reached by players returning to an existing save. That makes it a natural reason to revisit the city after the original story, especially if you enjoy discovering new spaces or taking photos.
Because this update slots into the existing story, it is best understood as more to find in the world rather than a separate postgame campaign with a new completion-time estimate. The studio’s instructions for returning players also make clear that an existing save is enough to get started.
Explore Kitty’s apartment in the Birthday Update
In an Xbox Wire report published May 12, 2026, Arsenio Navarro, Business Operations at Double Dagger Studio, announced that Kitty’s apartment had opened up as a fully explorable playground. The report describes interactions with Turt, birthday decorations, photo stickers and frames, and a hat to find among the presents. These additions shift the focus from getting home to spending time in Kitty’s home, experimenting with its objects, and using the expanded photo options.

Keep taking photos or simply wander
Photo mode and open-ended exploration give you activities that do not require another story objective. You can revisit familiar streets, look for details you missed, spend time with animal characters, or take pictures as you play. There is no need to turn post-story play into a checklist: if you have reached the ending and are still enjoying the city, the save remains available for casual exploration.
Picture Purrfect’s expanded photo mode and the apartment’s photo stickers and frames give photography-focused players concrete things to try. If that is not your style, casual wandering still fits the game’s open-world playground approach. The cited sources do not establish different story lengths by edition or platform, so there is no supported basis for assigning a shorter or longer campaign to one version. One practical exception is mobile save behavior: the official mobile FAQ says the mobile edition launched October 12, 2026, is a separate purchase from PC or console, and does not support save transfers. It is free to try before a one-time unlock; the FAQ also says the mobile version has an exclusive AR mode and contains no ads or paid DLC.
If you are considering moving from a PC or console playthrough to mobile, do not assume you can carry your existing save over. The separate-purchase and save-transfer details matter more than the estimated runtime if your plan is to continue the same progress on another device. The FAQ describes a one-time purchase to unlock the mobile game, but does not give a price here; check the relevant store for current pricing.
There is also a Japan-market packaged edition for Nintendo Switch. SEGA announced a June 18, 2026 release date and said the package contains the same content as the digital edition. That is useful if you specifically want a boxed copy, but the announcement does not establish current retailer stock, price, region compatibility, or language details.
