What does 20 minutes cover?
Minecraft Education states that a Minecraft day lasts 24,000 ticks, which equals 20 minutes of play. Its Seymour Island lesson plan also describes one Minecraft day as 20 minutes in real time (Minecraft Education, “Adjust Time”; Minecraft Education, “Minecraft Seymour Island Lesson Plan”).

The 20 minutes refers to the entire in-game cycle. Daylight is only part of it; night and the transitions between the two are included in the full cycle.
Can you change the time or stop the cycle?
Set a particular time
The official Minecraft commands guide documents /time set for setting the time of day, with named values such as day, night, noon and midnight. Whether you can use commands depends on your edition and world setup: cheats or sufficient permissions may be required, and the steps differ between single-player and multiplayer (Minecraft, “How to Use Commands in Minecraft”).

Control whether time advances
Some versions document the doDaylightCycle game rule for controlling the daylight cycle. Its availability and exact syntax can vary by edition and version, so check the documentation for the Minecraft version you play rather than assuming one command works everywhere (Minecraft Snapshot 25w44a).
Change the clock’s rate
