You can have one active C.A.M.P. at a time in Fallout 76. You can save up to 10 C.A.M.P. slots per character: two are available by default, and eight more can be purchased in the Atomic Shop. Any other saved C.A.M.P.s are stored until you activate them.
Saved C.A.M.P. slots vs. active C.A.M.P.s
“Active” means the C.A.M.P. slot selected for the current game world—not every build saved to your character. Bethesda’s current C.A.M.P. Slots support page sets the allowance at two default slots per character, plus up to eight additional slots purchasable in the Atomic Shop. That makes 10 saved slots the maximum, while the active limit remains one.
The other slots are stored: they do not load into the world, display a public map icon to other players, or generate resources from resource generators. Bethesda documented the one-active-C.A.M.P. rule when the feature launched in its April 27, 2021 Locked & Loaded update notes; the current 10-slot maximum is stated on its support page.
How to switch which C.A.M.P. is active
- Open the Map and select CAMP Slots in the upper-left corner, or select a C.A.M.P. marker on the map.
- Choose the saved slot you want to use.
- Select Activate CAMP. That slot becomes the active C.A.M.P.; the previously active one is stored.
The CAMP Slots menu also lets you rename slots, choose map icons, and control public visibility. Slot names are visible only to the player who created them.

What happens when you log out or join another server?
An active C.A.M.P. is not left loaded in the world after you log out. Bethesda says it disappears when you leave; when you join another server, it normally appears at its saved location if that spot is available. If the location is blocked, you can use an alternate placement or join a different world to try to return to the original spot when it is viable. In other words, “one active” describes the selected slot for a session, not a structure that stays in the world between sessions. See Bethesda’s C.A.M.P. placement support page for its placement guidance.

No. A Shelter is a separate instanced interior, not another surface C.A.M.P. You enter it through a Shelter Entrance built in a C.A.M.P., and each Shelter has a build budget separate from the main C.A.M.P. and other Shelters. Shelters can provide additional interior building space, but they do not increase the number of active surface C.A.M.P.s. Bethesda explains the distinction in its Shelters support page.
