Electronic Arts does not publish a single headline figure for how many companies it owns. Its FY2026 Form 10-K/A lists legal subsidiaries in Exhibit 21.1, but that list is not a combined count of subsidiaries, studios, and game franchises. EA is now owned by a consortium of PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners—a separate question from which entities EA owns.
Why there is no single count of companies EA owns
“Companies” can refer to different things. EA’s FY2026 Form 10-K/A provides a list of legal subsidiaries, identifying entities and their jurisdictions, but does not give one total that also counts development studios and game brands. The filing’s Exhibit 21.1 is the relevant source for the narrower question, “How many subsidiaries does Electronic Arts have?” (EA FY2026 Form 10-K/A, Exhibit 21.1).

- Legal subsidiaries: Separately named entities listed in the SEC exhibit. These are the appropriate unit if you want to count companies disclosed in that filing.
- Studios: Development organizations or business units. A studio name is not necessarily a separate legal company.
- Brands and franchises: Game properties are not automatically legal entities and should not be counted as companies without evidence that a separate entity exists.
Examples of EA subsidiaries in its FY2026 filing
The exhibit includes legal entities such as BioWare ULC in Canada, Respawn Entertainment, LLC in California, and PopCap Games, LLC in Delaware. These are examples from the legal list, not a count of EA’s studios or franchises. The filing does not state a precomputed total, so a precise number requires counting the entries in Exhibit 21.1 and describing the result specifically as the entities listed in that exhibit (SEC filing).
Who owns EA?
EA announced that its acquisition by a consortium of PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners closed on August 4, 2026 (EA’s acquisition announcement). These are the owners of EA at the parent-company level; they are not subsidiaries listed beneath EA in Exhibit 21.1.
