Nintendo reported 1.09 million worldwide software sales through March 31, 2023 for Metroid Prime Remastered. That is a dated, publisher-reported total—not a confirmed current lifetime figure.
What is the reported sales total?
Nintendo’s FY2023 financial-results material lists Metroid Prime Remastered at 109 units of ten thousand worldwide, equivalent to 1.09 million, through March 31, 2023. The regional figures are 5 units of ten thousand in Japan and 104 overseas, which add up to the worldwide total. Nintendo’s FY2023 results provide the title-specific figures.
What does Nintendo count as a software sale?
The 1.09 million figure is not a physical-only count. Nintendo’s reporting note says: “Software sales units include the quantity bundled with hardware or other products. Software sales units include their downloadable versions.” It therefore covers downloadable versions as well as qualifying units bundled with hardware or other products.
Is 1.09 million the game’s current lifetime total?
No current lifetime total is established by the available title-specific reporting. The figure is Nintendo’s life-to-date total through March 31, 2023. A later Nintendo report reviewed for this article does not provide a newer figure for the game; its omission does not mean sales stopped at 1.09 million. The later Nintendo report does not resolve the game’s present-day total.

Any comparison with another game’s sales should match the reporting period and scope. Check whether both numbers are worldwide or regional, lifetime or limited to a period, and whether their publisher definitions include digital sales and bundles. The 1.09 million figure is specifically worldwide life-to-date software sales through March 31, 2023, under Nintendo’s stated definition.
