There is no single exact current total published consistently for Rise of Berk. Apple’s U.S. App Store listing says “over 750” dragons, while Google Play says “over 850”; both are lower-bound promotional claims, not a precise count of the live roster. To see the dragons currently available in your game, check the in-game Book of Dragons.
Why the published dragon counts differ
The storefronts give separate figures for dragons and species. Apple advertises “over 750” DreamWorks dragons and 95 different dragon species on its United States App Store listing, accessed October 8, 2026. Google Play advertises “over 850” dragons and “over 95” species on its listing, updated July 16, 2026.
Neither listing explains how it counts dragons, and neither says that the dragon figure is an exact total. The difference does not, by itself, establish that the game gained a particular number of dragons between those dates. Treat the two numbers as distinct storefront claims, not as a verified census or interchangeable species totals.
How to check the current roster in-game
Ludia describes the Book of Dragons as an encyclopedia of every dragon available in Rise of Berk and a collection book for dragons you have collected. Collected dragons appear in full; dragons you have not collected appear faded. The entries are grouped into families, and filters and sorting help you navigate the list. Ludia’s Book of Dragons help page explains these features.

The Book of Dragons is the most useful place to inspect the roster, but the official description does not publish a current grand total for its entries. Nor do the storefronts define whether every advertised individual dragon corresponds to a distinct Book of Dragons entry. A precise count would need to specify what is being counted and the game version and date checked.
Why a fixed total can go out of date
Ludia says the dragon list grows with updates. The official 2026 update archive records releases through update 1.113 on September 29, 2026; that update summary says four dragons were landing on Berk. Update announcements confirm that the roster changes, but they do not provide a complete baseline or consistent cumulative count from which to calculate the total.

Counting can also depend on what you mean by “dragon.” Ludia’s support information groups dragons into categories such as Defenders, Exotics, Brutes, Seedlings, and Primals, and explains that types can reflect how a dragon is obtained or its membership in a larger family of similar dragons. The official acquisition guide describes routes including Explorations, Journeys, card packs, Season Pass rewards, Collections, and Ascension Portals. These are categories and acquisition methods, not a single published roster census.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Dragon count versus species count
When answering “how many,” keep two quantities separate: the storefronts’ advertised number of dragons and their separate number of species. Apple’s listing says “over 750” dragons and 95 species; Google Play says “over 850” dragons and “over 95” species. The listings do not define their counting methods, so those figures should not be converted into an exact number of unique species or Book of Dragons entries.
