GTA San Andreas doesn’t have one universal file size. Rockstar lists 4.7 GB of HDD space for the classic PC release and 45 GB for the PC Definitive Edition. Its mobile guidance gives different figures for iOS and Android, while the current console sizes are not established by these sources.

What the numbers mean
These figures describe different editions, platforms, and points in installation—not a single comparable download size. For example, Rockstar’s iOS guidance says about 3.8 GB is needed to install over device Wi-Fi, but reports that the game occupies 1.63 GB after installation. The Steam listing’s 3.6 GB minimal install and 4.7 GB full install are also distinct choices.

The PC figures are storage requirements: 4.7 GB for the classic release and 45 GB for the Definitive Edition. Rockstar’s requirements pages do not establish why those figures differ, so it would be speculative to attribute the gap to a particular asset, graphics feature, or compression method.
How much free space should you have?
Start with the figure for your exact edition and platform, then check free capacity on the drive or device where you plan to install the game. Leaving some additional room is sensible practical advice for installation and updates, but Rockstar does not specify a universal extra-space allowance. Its classic PC requirements page also cautions that downloadable content and programming changes can alter system requirements.
