The actual footprint can vary by device, app version, updates, temporary files, and cached assets downloaded while you play. If your device has only 300 MB free, you may still run into installation or update problems.

What does “how many gigabytes is Roblox?” mean?

- Download size: The amount transferred from Roblox or an app store.
- Installation requirement: The free space needed for the installer to complete.
- Installed app size: The space used by Roblox after installation.
- Total local footprint: The app plus updates, temporary files, logs, and cached game assets.
These measurements are not interchangeable. Roblox’s official computer requirements specify at least 300 MB of system storage for installation. They do not promise that every device will show Roblox as a permanent 300 MB installation.

How much space does Roblox need?

So, Roblox is officially less than 1 GB to install on a computer, but it is misleading to describe Roblox universally as “a 300 MB game.” The 300 MB figure applies to the computer installation recommendation and should be treated as a minimum.
Why Roblox can use more than 300 MB
Roblox is a platform containing many separate experiences rather than one game with one fixed content package. The client can receive updates, create temporary files, and download assets as experiences load.
Roblox’s developer documentation describes dynamic loading and texture streaming. That means content encountered during play is not necessarily included in one permanently fixed base download. Cached assets may remain locally for a time, and the amount can vary according to the experiences you visit and how the client manages its cache.

For these reasons, a device with exactly 300 MB free is not a sensible target. Leave several additional gigabytes available when possible. That is practical headroom, not a separate official Roblox requirement.
Roblox storage requirements by device
Windows PC
Roblox’s official computer page recommends at least 300 MB of system storage for installation. The current computer requirements page lists support for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11, subject to Roblox’s live compatibility information.
The 300 MB storage figure is separate from memory requirements. The same page lists at least 1 GB of RAM for Windows 10/11; RAM is working memory, not disk storage.
Mac
Mac users should use the computer requirement as a baseline, not as a guaranteed final application footprint. The cited Roblox requirements page lists macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later, although operating-system support can change. Check the live Roblox support page before installing on an older Mac.

Android
Roblox is available through the official Google Play listing. Android’s store package size and installed size can differ, and the figure can change with updates. The most reliable answer for a particular phone is the Roblox listing at installation time or the phone’s app-storage screen after installation.

iPhone and iPad
Do not apply the PC’s 300 MB figure to iOS or iPadOS as though it were a universal platform requirement. App-store package sizes and local documents or cache data can change. Check the current Roblox listing and then verify the real footprint under your device’s storage settings.
Chromebook
Roblox supports selected Chromebooks, but the installation method and storage behavior depend on the Chromebook and its operating-system support. Use the current Roblox compatibility information and the device’s own storage screen rather than assuming the Windows or Mac figure applies exactly.
Xbox and PlayStation
Roblox is also available on supported Xbox and PlayStation systems. Console storage requirements are platform-specific and can change with updates. Check the console’s installed-games or storage-management screen for the current size; do not reuse 300 MB as a verified Xbox or PlayStation figure.

VR devices
Roblox supports selected VR hardware, but storage depends on the platform and installation method. The computer minimum is not a universal VR requirement. Check the device’s store or system-storage page for the live figure.
Roblox’s corporate platform information identifies support across platforms including iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Chromebook, and selected VR hardware.
How much free space should you leave?
Official minimum on a computer: 300 MB, or about 0.3 GB.
Practical recommendation: Leave several additional gigabytes free instead of trying to install Roblox with only the minimum. Extra space allows room for an installer’s temporary files, future updates, and cached content. The exact amount is not a universal Roblox mandate because it depends on your platform and usage.
How to check Roblox’s actual size
Windows
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps.
- Search for Roblox.
- Check the listed app size.
- Confirm that the system or installation drive also has enough free space.
Windows may store related temporary or support files separately, so the installed-app listing may not represent every Roblox-related file.

macOS
- Open System Settings.
- Select General, then Storage.
- Look for Roblox-related application or document data.
You can also select the Roblox application in Finder and choose Get Info. This may not include cached or support files stored elsewhere.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps and select Roblox.
- Open Storage or Storage & cache.
- Review the app, user-data, and cache categories.
Menu names vary by Android version and phone manufacturer.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings.
- Select General.
- Open iPhone Storage or iPad Storage.
- Select Roblox to see its app size and documents/data.
Consoles
Open the console’s installed-games list or storage-management screen and select Roblox. That is the appropriate place to see the platform-specific installation size.
Roblox versus Roblox Studio
Roblox is the player app used to join experiences. Roblox Studio is separate creator software used to build and publish them, so Studio should not be added to a normal player’s Roblox storage estimate.
The Roblox Studio setup documentation lists 3 GB of RAM as a minimum and 8 GB as recommended. Those are memory requirements, not a universal Studio storage figure.
What to do if Roblox says there is not enough storage
- Check the correct drive. Overall free space may be available on another drive while the system or installation drive is nearly full.
- Restart the device. This can release temporary files or complete a pending system operation.
- Close Roblox and installer processes. A stuck update can keep files locked.
- Remove an incomplete installation. Uninstall the damaged Roblox installation through the operating system, if it appears there.
- Free system space. Remove unnecessary downloads, temporary files, or unused applications.
- Reinstall from an official source. Use the Roblox download page or your device’s official app store.
- Contact Roblox Support if the issue continues. Avoid unofficial installers, which may be outdated or unsafe.
Clearing cache can recover space, but it may mean Roblox has to download assets again. It also may not fix an installer, permissions, or update-loop problem.
The bottom line
Roblox officially recommends at least 300 MB of free system storage—about 0.3 GB—for computer installation. That is the minimum installation recommendation, not a fixed universal size for every device or a promise about the final footprint. Plan for more free space, then check your platform’s storage screen for the most accurate current number.
