A March 2024 Formula E announcement attributed 6 million monthly active users and 500,000 daily active users to the game. A later Sensor Tower estimate put its US Android audience at 52.8K weekly active users by the end of Q4 2025. Those figures show continued play, but neither tells us exactly how many people are playing today worldwide.
What player counts have been reported for Asphalt 8?

The 2024 monthly and daily figures come from a commercial partner announcement, rather than an independently named statistical study. They are useful as dated reported figures, not as a live measure. Sensor Tower’s later estimate is more recent, but covers one platform and one country. The different time windows and scopes mean the figures should not be added together or treated as directly comparable.
Does Asphalt 8 still have an active player base?
Yes: Sensor Tower’s Q4 2025 estimate indicates measurable weekly activity for Asphalt 8 on Android in the United States. It does not establish how many people play on iOS, other platforms, or worldwide, and it is not a concurrent-player count showing how many are online at one moment.
Why 500 million downloads does not mean 500 million players
Google Play displays a 500M+ download threshold for Asphalt 8. That is a cumulative store download figure, not a count of current or unique active players: people may download more than once, and a past download does not show that someone still plays. Google Play listing

Why the Asphalt franchise audience is not an Asphalt 8 count
Gameloft’s 2024 licensing page gives an average monthly active-user figure of about 21 million for the Asphalt franchise, which includes multiple titles. It cannot be attributed to Asphalt 8 alone. Likewise, Gameloft’s 2021 milestone of more than 1 billion downloads refers to the franchise across platforms, not active players of this individual game. The public figures support the conclusion that Asphalt 8 continued to have players through Q4 2025, and that a partner reported substantial monthly and daily activity in 2024. They do not establish a verified worldwide MAU, DAU, or concurrent-player total for 2026. The exact number playing today remains unknown from these sources.
