Plan for two people on one screen. Official sources also describe Call of Duty: WWII as supporting local co-op for two to four players on Xbox, but that broader label does not confirm that four players can all play split-screen at once.
Split-screen versus local co-op
Split-screen means players share one display, with the picture divided to show each player’s view. Local co-op is a broader label for people playing together on the same console or local setup; it does not, by itself, tell you how many players share one screen.

Activision’s Nazi Zombies tips refer to playing with a buddy beside you in split screen, then separately mention a four-player local server. That distinction supports two as the practical same-screen answer, but does not establish four-player split-screen.
What the official Xbox listing says
The Xbox store listing labels Call of Duty: WWII as “Xbox local co-op (2-4)” and also identifies shared/split screen. It does not explain whether all four local co-op players can be on one screen, so treat the 2–4 figure as a local co-op listing rather than a confirmed split-screen count.
