You can enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on one PS5 at a time per account. The same account can also have one primary PS4, so the PS5 and PS4 activations can coexist. Sony’s current PS5 sharing guidance sets the PS5 limit; it does not raise or replace the separate PS4 activation limit.
How the PS5 and PS4 limits work
| Console | Account activation | Can it coexist with the other activation? |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Console Sharing and Offline Play on one PS5 at a time, according to Sony’s current support guidance retrieved in 2026. PlayStation Support | Yes. Sony says the PS5 setting does not affect other console activation limits. |
| PS4 | One primary PS4 per account, according to Sony’s current support guidance retrieved in 2026. PlayStation Support | Yes. An account can have one primary PS4 as well as one PS5 with Console Sharing and Offline Play enabled. |
These are separate activation types, not a shared pool of two consoles. You cannot enable the PS5 sharing setting on two PS5s simultaneously, but having a primary PS4 does not use up the PS5 slot.
What other users can access on the enabled PS5
When Console Sharing and Offline Play is enabled, other users of that PS5 can play the account holder’s purchased and downloaded games and media, including when the console is offline. Some PlayStation Plus benefits are also available to other users, but Plus is not shared in full.
Sony’s PlayStation Plus sharing guide lists selected benefits that can be shared on one enabled PS5 and one primary PS4. Examples include online multiplayer, subject to parental controls; downloaded games purchased with a Plus discount; downloaded Monthly Plus games; and catalogue games, depending on the subscription plan.

How to move sharing to another PS5
- On the PS5 currently using the setting, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Disable on the old PS5.
- On the new PS5, open the same menu and select Enable.
Sony says the feature is automatically allowed on the first PS5 used to sign in to PlayStation. To use it on a different PS5, switch it off on the previous one before enabling it on the new console.

If you cannot access the old PS5
You can sign in to Account Management and remotely deactivate all devices if you cannot reach the console. Sony restricts remote deactivation of all devices to once every six months. Because it deactivates all devices, use this route only when you cannot switch off sharing directly on the old PS5.
