There are 12 types of fish in Far Cry 5. The roster includes trout, salmon, bass, sturgeon and paddlefish; heavier versions count as challenge variants, not additional types.

This roster follows the ordering in PowerPyx’s fish-location guide, published March 26, 2018. Some guides add “Salmon” to certain names; the list below uses the shorter labels.

Do heavier fish count as separate types?
No. A fishing guide describes a heavier version of each of the 12 types, associated with fishing challenges and the Old Betsy rod. Those are variants, so they do not raise the roster count above 12.
Why do fish names differ between guides?
Guide labels are not fully consistent: one calls Arctic Grayling “Arctic Grayling Salmon,” while another uses “Arctic Grayling.” Kokanee may appear as “Kokanee Salmon,” and Chinook as “Chinook Salmon.” These naming differences do not indicate additional fish types.

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 page confirms fishing is an in-game activity, but does not publish a fish roster. The count and names come from game guides, including PowerPyx’s fish-location list and Shacknews’ fishing guide.
